  1. I might be in the same boat as leadslinger. I have all the characteristics but I can't see any threads down in there. They might be but I can't see them. I see some of that white goo stuff though.
  2. Function over form. I love the traditional wood look, but my rifle is pretty much my MBR. I went with an adjustable butt stock so that it fits the various sized people in the family out at the range. If it wasn't my #1 I would dress it up for looks. Having said that, I don't have red dots and forward grips and stuff all over it. I keep it simple and that works well for me and I think ti works for this platform. These things aren't light to begin with so I try to keep it slim for all day carrying.
  3. I live in Cali and have a converted Saiga. In stock form, it is legal here In stock form you can use mags larger than 10 rounds if you owned them pre-ban, which it doesn't sound like you do. Convert to comply with Fed law 922r. Plenty of info on that around here. In Cali one extra step is needed IF you convert, and that is a mag lock so that your mag is only removable with the use of a tool. Calguns has a great flowchart on california compliance for evil black rifles, it's pretty straight forward. Print it and carry it in your range bag, and put another copy in your files.
  4. Always like to see a saiga being upgraded. Those are some damn nice pics, what camera are you using, with what sort of lens? Macro?
  5. Are you the same guy I answered a similar question for on Calguns? Either way, look there, you'll get the advice you need from other people from kalifornistan.
  6. Ok before I get started on Obama, the show....yeah this show left out a lot of important things. When he broke into that house he even said you have to be prepared for anything including force (I forget the exact term he used, but it implied human resistance to his break in). So he is advocating breaking into a home and using force on people who may be occupying their own property. Dangerous stuff, especially if that home is occupied by one of us. Also that jump into mid air over an open elevator shaft and grab a rope (which I believe are usually greased a little bit) yeah sure! Any injury
  7. Mine are made of Mithril, hand crafted by elves! This reminds me of the gold and diamond iphone, I think also from NZ
  8. Yeah the top one in that pick is the one I have. The way the cap is retained is basically a ridge molded inside the base of the grip, and you have to squeeze the cap in there to get it to fit. Then there is not much of anything to grab to get it out of there, without using a tool of some kind. I think its fine for storing things you only need to get to every so often, however it would drive me nuts to have to get in there every range session. But like I said, I stopped using it, because I can keep stuff in my range bag anyway. As far as durability, I can't say yet, as my grip is fairly new
  9. I have one, and frankly it's a pain in the you know what. I wouldn't want to have to access it on a regular basis, and for me, I need tools to get the thing open. Honestly, I gave up trying to use it.
  10. +1 to the fast shipping. Got my order super fast, over the new years holiday weekend no less. Great service, great pricing.
  11. I'm hoping so. Each time I look for one of the "cool" features I end up having it. Thanks for the experience with steel cases guys.
  12. The factory mag works on my converted Saiga 7.62 (just finished it today!) I did have to grind the factory guide/lip thing down a bit that is built into the factory mags. Grind it down (from the top) about 1/8 inch and it snaps right in, nice and tight.
  13. Just to add data, my newly acquired Saiga 7.62 (09 model) has dimples, and doesn't seem to make the case step mark. So far I only ran some brown bear (steel case) thought it. I heard somewhere that steel case might not deform with the step so I'll try some brass cases when I get a chance. Can't tell if I have the threaded barrel, here's to hoping
  14. Sweet looking saiga! What rail are you using for your scope mount?
