  1. I don't agree. I don't conform to my R&R Saiga. I just snap it up and the sight is there in my face can't miss it. What I really like is the much much larger field of view inside the optic which helps me with airborn clays. To each his own. Pat You don't agree it doesn't work for me? That is funny! Do you have the Arredondo Sight Mount or the R&R Sight Mount in the Dove Tail? I have been manufacturing the reflex sight mounts that bring the sight to the rear of the receiver for six years and I agree it is very effective but I can not move my head forward with the Arre
  2. I have all sorts of chokes (rem chokes for my R&R Saigas) but I use LM for most stages and I use Improved modified for harder steel targets like pipes we use which are hard to knock over at 20 yards or so. Pat

    broken mag!

You know I have read this a 100 times but my real life experience has proven it to be false. Mostly dealing with pistol mags in particular Glock mags. Leaving them fully loaded and only cycling them out when officers qualified the mags springs would stop locking the slide back at around 6 months to a year. Downloaded by 1 round and the issue went away no longer had to replace springs. Another issue with leaving polimer mags loaded is feed lips can spread from the constant pressure. pat Funny you bring up Glocks. I have my .45 mags loaded at all times and my carry mags only get shot twic
  4. I also had some problems with the Fast Fire 2, but on a pistol not on my shotguns. Good thing is that Burris stands behind their sights and replaced mine within a few weeks. The switch I made to the Aimpoint was to get a brighter dot and to prevent problems in the rain and the position does not bother me. I like the look of the Arredondo, but I shoot with a short stock and was worried I'd end up with the sight stuck in my face. Doug Doug, I tried them when they initially came out, Arredondo sight mount, and it wasn't for me. It makes you have to conform to your presentation
  5. Got a second one. Always lived by the rule 1 gun is none and 2 guns is 1. Pat here is the older one.

  7. The rifling on a slug is cosmetic it does nothing to make it spin. Slugs are stablized like a badmitten birdy. By having the weight of the slug up front. If you want a slug to spin you need a rifled barrel. Why would you use steel shot unless your hunting ducks. I don't think most of us have our Saiga's for duck hunting. Pat
  8. I run a Delta Point on a Arredondo mount now. I busted the original Fast Fire 2 that came on my R&R in one season. I went to the AImpoint R1 (same as the H1 but silver) for a while and its a great sight but I did not care for the forward mounting of the dot. I went with the Arredondo mount because it sticks the sight close to my eye giving me a maximum field of view and this mount also lowers the sight as much as possible to help with off set issues. I use the tip of the triangle sighted in for slugs and I use the whole triangle like a red dot for close in shot targets. Pat
  9. We just got done with the 2nd Annual Birchwood Three gun Champion Ship up here. There were 4 R&R Saigas and 3 Firebird AKDALS and 1 Remington 1100 with a Xrail on it. The Saigas and the AKDALS ran fine. The Xrail was a jamamatic. The only stage it worked on was the aeral clay stage where the gun was held up pointing skyward most of the stage. I think he has a magazine spring issue. I got 3rd in open mostly because I bombed a rifle stage where we had to shoot at clay targets. Never use clays for rifle or pistol targets anyway. Here are the videos. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JSk2AYe
  10. Both are comped. The AKDAL has an end of barrel comp and my R&R has a mid barrel comp that is the major difference because shotguns don't have much gas pressure to work with so the comp further back does much better. But I have read that Firebird says a mid barrel comp won't work on the AKDAL due to the longer gas action. Pat
  11. I think the Saiga from R&R has another huge advantage as well. Far less recoil. I fired my friends Firebird AKDAL with the same ammo as my Saiga and his kicked like my Tac Optics Benelli. The Saiga from R&R is far flatter and softer shooting. Congrats on the placement that is impressive. Pat
  12. How much does that target cost. Looks great. Now need to figure out a way to ship it to Alaska. Pat
  13. Got the official range report typed up. We had our 4th annual 3 gun match up here in Seward. Everyone seemed to have a great time. We had 10 stages over 2 days with a precision rifle side match. We learn a bit every year on how to get better and this match feels like it has ran the smoothest yet. We had a good group of shooters. Also the division we pioneered up here that we call Production is getting very popular with nearly as many shooters in it as Tac Optics. I wanted to create a division that was not a gear race for new shooters. Production has limited 10 handgun rules from US
  14. I am in Seward we host the match down here. We have done them for about 6 years now. There are 4 of us who put it on. 2 are from Anchorage and me and another guy are in Seward. There is a good match coming up on June 15 and 16th at the Birchwood range. It was great last year with good prizes and good stages. I will send you a PM with contact information. Pat
  15. Here is my friend running his he got 1st. http://s59.photobucket.com/user/355sigfan/media/Ken%20R/IMGP5994_zps52a0c3fa.mp4.html http://s59.photobucket.com/user/355sigfan/media/Ken%20R/IMGP5992_zps10a354f7.mp4.html
  16. My friends and I host a three gun match once a year and for Alaska its a big match. We had 35 shooters this year. The top three places in Open were all with shooters using R&R Saigas. My friend Ken took first, I got 2nd and another shooter from Kenai took 3rd. There were 4 R&R Saigas in open total. Here are some videos from the match. I had a great time but I am exhausted. Shooting the match was great but ROing, handing match director issues and set up and clean up and scoring took their toll. I only got about 6 hours of sleep over the last 2 days but it was worth
  17. No issues with barrels even with the 20 round mag. Well i should say its easier to get it out than put it in. I usually drop the mag prior to putting it back in the barrel now. pat
  18. I think I would rather register it and use it and take the chance. How many NFA guns have been seized or confiscated since registered in the US. None. Its much better than having an expensive single shot that is pretty much worthless.
  19. I agree with Doug run what you have to get a feel for it and then save up for what you feel you need. 1. You will want a high capacity 9mm pistol. 2. The clips R&R sells for Saiga mags work great just hang the mags on your belt. Works the best of any system I have seen. 3. The the AR you will seldom need to reload. Use a 48 round Nordic extention on your P mag for long hoser stages or a Surefrie 60. I also run a coupled set of 30 round P mags. I carry one 30 round mag on my belt as an oh crap mag. Its never needed unless something went wrong. Pat
  20. No brake on the end of the barrel of a shotgun is going to be all that effective because the pressure level with shotguns is so low. At that points it is really just a barrel weight. Now a mid brake like the one on the R&R open package does something because its far enough back to actually get some gas pressure to keep the gun flat. Pat
  21. Send it to Robert at R&R for the open package. Pat
  22. I love the Steelmaster too. It took me some getting used to with it having more muzzle flip than my open gun in 38 super comp but I have played around with the loads to minimize that. I like how fast it transistions from target to target. Pat
