If you walking around the woods and junk, I'd probably go with a two point sling if this is gonna be your secondary. I've hit my manly parts more than once because of a single point lol. As far as 7.62 being effective, I have some friends that hunt with SKSs and they bag quite a bit of deer.
Thanks on the two point......
I hunt deer with shotgun slugs......Just wondering about larger\aggressive game that I am not hunting and may encounter in emergency situation.
Is the 7.62x39 caliber up to the task for say bear or large cat?

Just sent email off to Game Commissioner to see if it is allowed.
My main question is if the ballistics justify......
-
It is a registered pistol. I can conceal carry it, if I choose to stuff in under a coat or something to that effect.
I believe you can carry concealed as secondary for hunting

I have heard many stories arguing whether is should be:
Semi auto
Revolver (single or double action)
.44Mag
.10MM
.50 S&w
.45
.357 ETC
Maybe your bow hunting, or deer hunting in bear country, or you in Area 51.....whatever
I started thinking....shit, I have a Sam7K and yeah 8-9lbs is heavy, but 5-75 round capability with 7.62x39 sounds nice!
Also, I can leave out the semiauto jamming bullshit...this one isnt going to jam.
So what do you think of it on a single point sling as a secondary for hunting? I read the 7.62x39 is equal to 30/30 Winchester?
That makes the ballistics chart link confusing, if so.....

From what I have been told, also purchasing for a spouse is not a straw purchase.

I am by no means a sheep and could give a rats ass about most peoples opinions, but:
- I Love me a Chic-Fil-A sandwich
- Believe in Supporting Freedom of Speech
- Believe in some of the "old fashion" Christian ideals of Chic-Fil-A (even though it would be nice to eat one on a Sunday)
Two days before Christmas, an unnamed group launched a social media campaign urging fans to participate in National Chick-Phil-A Day on Jan. 21, 2014, by throwing on their best "Duck Commander" or camo gear and eating at the fast-food chain which was in hot water in 2012 after its COO spoke out against same-sex marriage.

Keep reading up.....If you like it, go for it.
If something is a little more cash, but much better quality.....save alittle more.
The process that the milled Bulgarians use are much better than most (from everything I have read)
Keep in mind, for the average shooter (most of those, including me, on this site), the internals (springs, trigger, maybe barrel, etc) are what are going to break\wear down from tons of use........the receiver stamped or milled would be the last of my concern
Good Luck

This is what I'm shooting....
Arsenal’s Exclusive Milled And Forged Receiver
Each SAM7R receiver is milled from a hot-die hammer forged receiver blank by the Arsenal Co. of Bulgaria. Other milled-receiver AKs are machined from bar stock, but Arsenal’s hot-die hammer forging produces stronger and finer-grained steel. Internal voids and cooling deformations are eliminated by the 5-ton hammer forging process.
- Cold hammer-forged 16.3” barrel from Arsenal’s Bulgarian factory, built on Steyr manufacturing technology
- Hard-chrome plated bore and chamber

I think I'd look into the Vepr rifles. You'll get a heavier receiver and a barrel, and will get better accuracy with about the same weight as a milled AK.
The 2 milled AKs I've shot didn't give any noticeably better accuracy over a quality stamped rifle. The centurion just doesn't do much for me. YMMV.
You noticed better accuracy with a thicker stamped reciever, but none with a milled? Interesting.
I havent shot the Vepr, but my Bulgarian milled is much more accurate than my Saiga

Had a long conversation with a smith well versed on AK issues yesterday on milled AKs.
He pointed out the AK was designed to flex, you have seen the slo-mos, if one makes the rcvr rigid it places a lot of stress at certain points and the Russians found out eventually the thing will crack.
Of course that was under full auto fairly rough use. Stamped have their problems also in particular if the heat treating was sub-standard.
When the subject went to improved accuracy he confirmed it would improve with a milled AK... about 0.5MOA. Errr damn...
Still everything people say is true concerning how solid it feels so thats about the extent of it.
Yeah I still want one but not spending a lot more than stamped would cost.
Thanks for the replies folks.
I have watched those same slow mo's
If you are shooting hundreds of thousands of rounds, imagine a minor defect could be found.
I think forged steel is the best....that "less flex" = somewhat better accuaracy and shot placement under multifire situations due to rigid barrel and less muzzle rise (with proper attachment)
I have inspected my bulgarian milled firearms meticuously and under a scope.....solid
Nothing wrong with a good stamped....have a few and doubt that there are many of us on this forum that have the cash for the amount of ammo that would require any type of meaningful breakdown in performance (short of barrel grooves)

I should hear back in a day or two from the game commission on the regulations (which I will post)
My biggested concern is 7.62x39 adequate.....Dont really want to spend money on at 10mm or .44 mag or 50S&W if I have what I need in my Sam7k
Of course I will own one of those other pistols in the future maybe a glock in .45acp or 10mm
