  1. After putting in a Dinzag bullet guide, I installed one of the old MSA adapters using a Dremel tool. Sweated blood worrying that I might have took too much off. But all worked well, no jams or failures to feed ever. Using USA made Fusil AR mags to keep 922r legal. I still worry about a weak trunnion and bad things happening eventually. I wonder how common such problems are but are not discussed because nobody wants to talk about the rifle they destroyed.
  2. I had one break off. It's what lead me to look into other magazine options.
  3. Don't know. Haven't tried now that the MSA adapter/bullet guide combo work. Awhile back I bought nine Weiger (or Century clones?) and a bunch of metal Galil mags. I modded three of the Weigars to get them to click in to my rifle (only one well done IMHO). Since my buttstock was the only part I replaced, using either would violate 922r and until the SHTF I don't feel comfortable about that. So I guess I'll just sell them. Maybe keep the best modded one...
  4. Bought RenegadeBuck's adapter last year. Very minor dremmeling needed to install. Worked fine, even with no bullet guide, except that invariably the magazine would fall out of the gun after a few shots. With P-Mags sometimes I'd get off ten shots & with Fusil steel mags usually only two or three shots, then the mag would fall out. Apparently the part of the adapter that inserts into the notch in the magazine wasn't going in deep enough. I gave up on it. Then I tried MSA's adapter. Couldn't believe the amount of metal that I had to dremel away to get the thing to (barely) click in. Worried
  5. With cheap Russian ammo, iron sights, and a so-so shooter: 3 inch groups at 100yds. With match ammo, a scope, and an experienced shooter: definitely under 1.5" at 100 yds. The 5.56mm Saiga has the thickest barrel walls of all the calibers since the Russians start with the same blanks for all calibers. It's almost a bull barrel. Which tightens the groups.
  6. If MSA does this I predict that they will own the market for this rifle.
  7. I have one of the real ones actually made in Russia:
  8. Well, I bit the bullet and ordered one of the non-blemished ones. Hope it arrives soon...
  9. Why is a 7% tax added to the process? I am from Pennsylvania, not Texas. I never had to pay taxes on other internet out-of-state purchases.
  10. Yes. You can order online with a credit card, UPS delivers it and they never require any signature from me unless the sender requires it (which Wideners doesn't). And by hotter I mean slightly higher velocity.
  11. Wideners sells Israeli IMI 5.56mm ammo very reasonably by the case, no signature required. And a bit hotter than civilian ammo.
  12. I have five Surefire mags and a Renegadebuck adapter/nine Fusil AR15 magazines. No bullet guide installed yet, although I do have a bunch of Weiger mags(three modified to fit) and a bunch of Galil mags, (in case I ever do get around to putting my Dinzag bullet guide in).
  13. If you didn't have to dremel the trunnion nubs then you are very lucky. I had to remove about 0.2 inches from mine. I know because when I started, I inserted a metal magazine and scratched the magazine with a razor blade held tightly against the base of the adapter. Then repeated when I was done and measured the distance between the scratches. However, I did remove enough to allow a plastic P-mag to fully insert, which necessitated more total removal than the metal magazine had required, since I wanted P-mags to also function. So for me, 0.2 inches of removal did it. Now when I look at the ins
  14. I buy Israeli ammo from Wideners. IMI's M193C ammo roughly goes for 28-cents per shot by the case of 1200. IMI has a very good reputation as top quality stuff. Reputedly loaded a bit hotter than most other 5.56mm ammo, although I haven't chronographed any myself. Have had several multicase deliveries by UPS, none of which I was home for, or required any signature. Good cheap stuff easy to get.
