  1. May God keep them safe. A big THANK YOU to all our LEOs everywhere.
  2. A bit lesser known & off-the-wall, loosely based on a Bram Stoker novel, but just about guaranteed to make you cringe at least once or twice... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJo9-sO-qIU
  3. Hoping the deputy makes a swift & full recovery.
  4. Welcome back! That is one sleek & businesslike looking Saiga, I like.
  5. Favorite: John Carpenter's 'The Thing' Worthy of Honorable mention: Halloween (1978) An American Werewolf in London (1981) From Beyond (1986) Near Dark (1987) Pumpkinhead (1988) Jacob's Ladder (1990) Split Second (1992) Ravenous (1999) Splinter (2008) A couple in the 'scared the bejeebers out of me as a kid, laughable now' category: First Man Into Space (1959) The Day of the Triffids (1962)
  6. Nice! I may end up going this direction due to my old eyes having a hard time finding & re-acquiring the front sight.
  7. Robot bombs are crude, but effective. How 'bout a gun-bot?
  8. 458 SOCOM pistol upper build parts from Tromix & 500 brass for same. Vortex Spitfire etched reticle prism sight. Got the beast working now after some initial problems with optic (RTFM) & gas-block migration were addressed. http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb258/Hawk451/th_MVI_0250_zpsrt20lyhg.mp4 50 yard group with factory 300gr HPs won't win any prizes, but it's certainly 'sub-Minute of Bear or Cougar'. Will be trying 405gr handloads later.
  9. "Once is chance, twice is coincidence, 3 times is enemy action." How does 47 times rate?
  10. Pencil AR barrel, a couple Anderson uppers & misc parts from JoeBob's. 2 premium BCGs from PSA. Got a package today that I hadn't expected 'til tomorrow or Monday from Tromix. Tony & crew are on the ball! Just got done assembling upper, will hit the range tomorrow.
  11. Got up on the correct side of the dirt, assumed a vertical stance without assistance, nothing hurting too bad to use. 'negative post'? 'positive post'?
  12. Some 'laid-back' horsepower? And not so laid-back.
  13. 1080 rounds 5.45 ammo on stripper clips fits in about 1.67 layers. Room left over for a few magazines & 'spoons'.
  14. There should be 'alternate' facilities available: 'The slit-trench is out back.'
  15. For me, the S-12. If I didn't have more rifles than shotguns (and 2 them in 7.62x51) it'd be a tough choice due to the versatility of the shotgun vs the range of the rifle.
  16. Front-burner items: 1: 458 SOCOM pistol upper. Tromix has a 10.5" upper ready to go, but I'll be getting the parts & assembling it the way I like. 2: Ruger Precision Rifle, probably in 6.5 CM. Indeterminate future: 3: 5" full-underlug pre-lock 629. To my eye, this is a just about perfectly proportioned DA revolver. 4: Maybe a .20 practical upper. Some day: 5: SSG82 6: Something in 338 Lapua, assuming I ever get good enough with RPR 6.5 that I want more 'reach'. 7: Phillips & Rodgers M47 Medusa 8: SVD
  17. Meat? One possible answer to the 'Fermi Paradox' (if there are other intelligences, where the hell are they?) http://www.terrybisson.com/page6/page6.html
  18. 'CTRL ALT Revolt!' by Nick Cole is a pretty entertaining take on AI, especially if you're a gamer.
  19. If anything, we're probably evolving towards the nebbishes in T J Bass' "Half Past Human" & "The Godwhale". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Half_Past_Human Or, maybe the pudgy humanoids in "Wall-E" This is all assuming we don't kill ourselves off too soon or civilization doesn't turn out to be a passing fad: who knows what any surviving 'feral' humans might evolve into...
  20. +1 Also, I seem to get a little dust in my eyes or something whenever I hear The National Anthem sung this well. This time is no exception.
  21. Cold Steel makes something they call a 'boar spear'. I've seen mixed reviews on it. Kult of Athena carries a metric shit-ton of pointy-stabby stuff: Maybe the Frankish spear head, sharpened-up & fitted to a stout ash staff would do the trick. I've also read that 'boars don't really drive themselves up the spear shaft to get you: you don't need a cross-piece behind the spear head.' It'd be just my luck to pick a fight with a boar that hadn't read that...
