  1. Well.... as long as it doesn't just flop around I'll be happy with it. I just placed an order for the stock and a US puck. Thank you for answering my questions. Can't wait
  2. I'm a sucker for a Lifetime Warranty. Last question....I think. It may be a dumb question, but I'm asking anyway. How does it lock in the folded position? .... or does it?
  3. How much does that cost?
  4. Become a sight contributor, I think it is $5. You can then place a WTB ad in the WTB forum telling exactly what you want. As many weapons here that have been restored, there is someone out there that would love to make a buck or two off of the parts they will never use again. If you explained the situation a little better, we may be able to offer better direction. What is going on with the weapon? Is it a 'restored' S12 that you would like to return to import ban compliant configuration? Are the parts worn out? Are you wanting to get some parts off of your S12 to use on another S12 and rep
  5. Maybe I missed it, but is there any kind of warranty on it? I am very interested.
  6. I have a few pushbutton Romys. They are distressed, but not rusty. You could Cold Blue or paint them if you don't like the distressed look. PM me if interested.
  7. The only dumb questions are the ones you don't ask. I'm not sure I understand what you mean by 'complete set'. It is just the grip. You will need a grip screw and nut. It can only be used on a restored or 'converted' Saiga.... or an AK. If your Saiga already has a pistol grip, this grip is easy to install.
  8. I got tired of needing the tool to adjust the plug. I can do it with my fingernail now. I only removed the material that was in the way. I didn't want to 'bob' the whole front as I don't have access to a good sander and I didn't want to have to reprofile the whole front either. I drilled a 'vent' for the gas to exit the port a little easier. The hardest part was getting the 'vent' in the hadguard lined up with the port. I got really close and filed it to get it just right. I like this handguard better now. I have an HD camera and it is extremely light sensitive, sorry about the bad pics.
  9. Boba, It sounds like your original idea was better than what you ended up with. The weapon does look quite menacing with that mid comp, but what good is it if it doesn't work? I wish I had the answer to what needs to be done. I can only say that I'm pulling for you and I hope you get it figured out. I have the funny feeling you will have to end up losing the barrel beyond the comp and SBS like the other poster said. I know that wasn't your original intention, but you could certainly brag about that if you got it running well Mike at Lonestar could put the 'Lonestar Magic' on that thi
  10. This ^ This may start a flame fest, but I think "break in" is a myth. My S12 was unfired when I bought it. I did everything could find in this forum that I thought would make it run and fired 10 rounds with a couple FTEs. I pressed onward with mods and a little more input, and it ran fine after that. If it takes "break in" for a S12 to run.... then 10 rounds is plenty. Usually, FTE = not enough gas
  11. I have one AGP 10 round, one Izzy 8 round, one Izzy 5 round, and three SGM 12 round mags. They all have been good so far. Never tried Promag, but I would like to try the 12 round PM drum.
  12. If you plan on keeping the weapon and the sight that you want, like others said, cut it out. I bought a Wilton 360 rotating jaw vise from Lowes and it has proven to make everything easier. I have seen them at Home Depot as well. They are about $60 and worth every penny. You might want to get some Wilton rubber pads for it while you are at it. All of my rifles have ended up in this vise at one time or another. Spring for one and mount it to an old desk that has some weight to it. You will achieve happiness.... And yes PA, that sight does look interesting.... One, Please, do tell...
  13. I'm with you on the traditional pistol grip nut. I cut the nut off of the Tromix DIY I have and used a normal nut and screw. I would do the same to the aforementioned trigger guard. Well.... who designs and makes this guard?
  14. Forgive me if I'm missing the point, but why go through all of that trouble just to have an 18.5" barreled S12? Why not just cut the barrel back to the length needed to be legal with a welded on choke and forget about the comp and the addt'l porting beyond the comp? My S12s don't really kick enough to worry about it. I don't get it.... someone enlighten me, please. Is it all about the short gas mid barrel comp look? Good luck with you weapon. It sucks to get one that is fubar'd or get a good one and fubar it. Either way it sucks. I hope it works out for you.
  15. Looks nice and proper. I have a Saiga with the stock guard welded on and one with a DIY Tromix. I like the traditional look, on the trigger guard anyways. Cobra, I will be getting one of these for my next S12, and supporting a site vendor.... namely you. Sadly, both of the S12s I have were already restored when I got them. The next one will be a virgin bone stocker. Great job on keeping the design simple. ETA: Micah, Rat Bones! I'm old school like that.... I had a set.
  16. What a f'd up way to learn a lesson. I can only imagine your disgust. Going from the top with a tap is your best bet. If you can't do that, you may be able to grind off the portion of the nut that has the damaged threads if there will be enough threads left to do the job. What about getting a new screw and running it through the top to clean it up? Use some Breakfree or something similar as a lubricant while you do it and it may work OK. I always go in 1/4 turn and back out 1 whole turn when threading, repeat until mission accomplished. Good luck with it. The moral of the story is.... TRUS
  17. It just "hit" me a few minutes ago what that was.... I feel dumber now, lol.
  18. I have wondered if standard external threads could be cut on the barrel before shortening it. Run the die down to a little past where you want to cut it ( 3/4" ?). You could even use a muzzle nut as a guide in order to file the barrel nice and straight after you cut it. Bad idea? or what. I've been wanting to take my barrel down to 18 1/8".... just because.
  19. TX-Zen, What is that interesting little "lever" looking doodad coming out the left side of the reciever? BTW I've been bitten by the bug pretty good. It's time to find S12 #3.... thank you for getting me over here on the S12 board.
  20. I have Romy sodefolders on both of my S12s and they are punishing after about the first 100 rounds of use in a session. I have been considering a pad of some sort. Are the Limbsaver pads very effective on an S12? Do they work better than the pad that comes on an EMOD? I have some of the EMOD pads laying around. Not trying to hijack, it just seemed like a good opportunity to ask. Slug O, Let us know how well it works and what loads you test it with.
  21. That may be the best 1st post I've seen.... ever. Congrats. I have a couple S12s with Romy sidefolders and they are OK without a buttpad if you are just popping off a few shots. I shot 205 rounds Sunday and I am still sore. I had them laying around and thought I would give it a whirl. I wouldn't try any 3" shells with the Romys though.... ouch. It seems that most people here with folders have ACE units with a pad. I would assume they are the way to go as I haven't heard of anyone complain about them yet. You could go with a folding triangle stock or a folding full stock like on the Bulgari
  22. I agree wholeheartedly with that! Here's a clip of my LSA-refined gun in action, firing Federal Game Load low-brass on factory gas setting 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aUYJFoTXej8 I was eyeballing that vid testerday. Looks like it runs good. I want to shoot some videos of some really fast mag dumps. I was wringing the S12s out yesterday. Maybe I could start a S12 mag dump video thread....
