    so frustrated!

I might add that it wasn't MAA's fault. It got shipped quick but USPS dropped the ball. And by the way their tracking sucks.

    so frustrated!

Same thing happened to me last year! Ordered conversion kit from MAA and it got stuck in some USPS black hole. Finally got it almost three weeks after ordering. And I live in a neighboring state!
  3. Birchwood-Casey makes a "lead removal cloth" that works really well getting the lead streaks out after slug shooting. I just cut squares about 2" and run them back and forth with a brass 12 gauge jag and the bore comes clean in a few minutes.
  4. Just ordered a plug--now for the doublestacks!
  5. The gas block vent is there to reduce the back pressure against the puck. If you think about it, when the bolt is closed there is probably some resistance caused by the closed system. I'm not saying that it's completely airtight but not exactly free flowing. If you take the plug out and push the puck in as far as possible you can't see any sign of the vent hole--this means it simply allows the puck to move as freely as possible, thus improving reliability! Don't try to seal it!
  6. Since purchasing and converting my S12 in January I've found, of all the things I tried, that enlarging my three gas ports to 0.93 and reprofiling the G2 hammer to factory profile made the biggest differences in function. My gun now cycles Winchester bulk from Wally World with 100 percent reliability. Just my experience but I'm a happy camper!
  7. Nevermind I got it done (probably made it harder than it needed to be but it works). Got a 6 by 1 by 100 mm bolt, ground the head round, added a slot, and cut about 4mm off the length. Works like a charm!
  8. I just received my grip from MAA (had DIY grips in stock) and I'm a bit confused on how to mount it to my DIY triggerguard. The grip came with a screw about 2.5 inches long but it's too long to use inside the grip. Can I use a regular AK screw if I shorten it appropriately? Or maybe I could buy a 6mm by 1mm (size of Tromix DIY mount) and trim it to length? I'd really like to be able to use the cap that came with the grip if possible. Sorry if my post is confusing but I really need some advice. Thanks
  9. I found these to cycle more reliably than the 3 dram bulk pack loads. As a plus they go on sale every year at Academy before dove season for about 39 bucks a flat!
  10. I've been pulled over for speeding in big bend national park after one too many of the nectar of the gods. Yes I was arrested and spent the night in jail. My jeep was towed over 200 miles and it cost a small fortune to get the hell out of there but in retrospect I think the LEO did me a huge favor-I've never driven even slightly buzzed since!
  11. I hereby decree this weekend permission for a little R&R for everybody!
  12. Really appreciate the reply, man! I feel like a pain in the ass but I need to know a couple of things: 1 the online store indicates 20 Tromix DIY compatible grips available. I've read here on another thread that there are no more to be had. Can you clear this up, Mike? 2 when I tried to checkout I got a message that "We are not shipping to this region at this time" My MD-20 shipped a few months ago with no problems, so WTF? I realize maybe it's just a part of progress and maybe nothing to worry about, but since the doublestacks are in the final stages (I hope!) I want to be able to orde
  13. Mike I really like the looks of the updated website! A few questions, though. It appears you have many Tromix-compatible grips available; yes or no? Also is the ordering page secure (it says http:// when I have been told we should see https:// at the address bar.) A secure ordering page is important to me (God knows money is tight everywhere). And last but by no means not least, how about an update on the doublestack mags? In late June you talked of an update in the next two or three weeks! Keep up the good work, man!
  14. Are you using the Remington bulk pack? Their primers are notoriously hard. I noticed the same thing with my S-12. Upon investigating reloading forums I found it was normal for these shells. Just a theory!
