  1. Hehe......me too for touch ups.. Used Krylon BBQ paint during conversion.
  2. They now use magwells. And when I opened my box it looked nothing like what the Spetznas use.
  3. You should have someone like Pauly work on your bolt. It is awesome being able to load on a closed bolt.
  4. Everyone bases the pronunciation of Saiga upon the factory video. The commentator spoke pretty poor English. His pronunciation was so bad. Why could he not pronounce a single English word properly? Oh yeah, he's a Russian. Someone please post a Russian video of the Saiga. I want to hear the word in it's native language. Then I will still say SEGA. To me it's like going to London and trying to speak like a limey. To me it's tool-ish. SEGA!
  5. Hehe..I just used Krylon BBQ& Stove paint.
  6. You finished moving the trigger group forward, your Saiga project will be forever ongoing.
  7. When I bottom out the plug, the position is just about to the "-" position, but it's not quite there. So I have to back it out almost a half turn to get to my first "-" setting, and then I adjusted the settings from that point when I was shooting. That was my interpretation of the directions, but correct me if I am wrong. What I was saying before is that I was going to back it out another half turn from there, so maybe that will open it up slightly. That is correct, in that you opened it up to the "-" setting which is #1, the starting point.. That should be least gas and should not
  8. Read the instructions closely under the "ADJUSTING CORRECTLY " part of the instruction manual or if you threw it away go to the website. Sounds like after you bottomed the plug out you didn't back it out to the other spectrum of settings. Back it out to the next "-" position and open up one at a time till you get reliable ejection. Mine goes 1 for slug, 3 for buckshot, 5 for birshot.
  9. I would be interested, but the key would be the follower. Think Magpul. 8 or 10 rounder. Aluminum. Steel would be too heavy. Make sure the locking tab is long enough to be adjusted for variances in the platform. All mags are a bit loose in mine. If you have the capital, just do it. I wonder why nobody has made an EXACT copy of the Russian 8 round magazines? I would think that would be easiest, but I know jack shit.
  10. Get the FCG retaining plate and modified bolt hold open lever for convenience when you have to tear it down. I like having my bolt polished, as I can load full mags on a closed bolt and it feels better. I have the RocknLock and I find it helps loading a mag. I don'y know if the original trigger will work without major mods. Do the US trigger group because that's three easy parts for compliance. My goal was compliance without magazines.......
  11. I've been following this stock since there were about 100 orders and I could have sworn they said it would work on a restored gun. Was about to order one but the site said will only work on unconverted guns. Is it true?
  12. A kit is all you need to do a basic pistol grip forward conversion. However, to make life easier after the conversion, I recommend an axis pin retaining plate and the modified bolt hold open device kit. Also take a look at gas plugs, pucs, and muzzle devices. Also find some dental picks and hemostats to make reassembly easier. As far as I know, the only difference between the DIY triggerguards is looks.
  13. The LOP will be too long. The LOP with Kvar Nato plus grenade launcher pad was a bit long. I recently ordered a Kvar Warsaw Pact length stock and it is about perfect with the grenade pad. I am 6'2".
  14. I like the Phantom flashider. I looked at all types and figured it would be the least likely to contact the wadding or anything else. I've only shot in the daytime, but looking at the muzzle, there is no apparent flash, or smoke for that matter. It is discolored, meaning it is disrupting the expanding gasses. This is on a 19" barrel. YMMV on a shorty.
  15. I upload photos to Photobucket app from my phone. I then click on the IMG code to copy then paste into my post. No need to mess with picture size. It's easy.
  16. Hoping to see a magazine made by them.......
  17. IIRC, around 200. Some of it fell on the floor. Shot some Win Universal today. It was so hot today the guns were almost too hot to touch after just 5 minutes in the sun before firing. Got my first hood jam with the factory mag. Everything felt like it was getting soft. Couldn't imagine being in Iraq. Anyway, come to find out it is difficult to extract Universal out of an 870.
  18. This was after one range trip with Federal.
  19. Sounds good. Guess I'm being OCD. Just cleaned it after last outing with two types of Winchester. Super X and Universal. Virtually no residue compared to Federal left in the gas block. I'm taking Winchester to the range from now on.
  20. I'm getting some blow-by. How much, if any, is acceptable. I'm running a CSS puc.
  21. What is a Raddlock button and Magpul 10/30 mag?
  22. Finally made it to the range last Wednesday. Before going I put all 4 of my SGM 8 rounders in the boiling water with the sparkplug socket. Also dremelled each one so that no part of the top of the rim would drag before coming to the top. Also ordered four followers from AGP. These fit perfectly and kept the nose of the shell further down. I was getting impatient and decided a drastic change was in order. Wanted to make sure I covered as many variables as possible. Tested all 5 magazines (factory and SGM) with 250 rounds of Winchester Universal and Super-X #7.5. Only had fai
