best and most reasonable ammo to fire in a Saiga 308
punkur67 replied to nodott's topic in Saiga .308
Although not the quality you are talking about, I run wolf and the umc theyu have on sale sometimes at BIG 5. You will find that match grade ammo in a semi auto rifle will get expensive VERY fast. Never had a failure yet in about 750rds. The ones a BIG 5 have sealed primers also. -
I have severial different length poly blocks from other blocked mags. I just place the blocks under the follower and it will only go down so far.

As dumb as it may sound to some I want the look of a 25rd. Converted it looks naked with a short 10 rounder hanging out of the botom

Got me a new Saiga... now just wondering about converting.
punkur67 replied to Mateusz's topic in Saiga 7.62 X 39
If I can do it, then you can too. I am far from mechanically inclined and managed to pull it off. Admittedly, it took a while, but it goes much quicker with better tools. (First conversion: months of on and off work; latest conversion: a couple of hours). There is a guy on youtube that did a 5 part conversion. The trickiest part was the bho, but he shows you how to do it with a string. I suguest having an extra hand to push the pin in while you hold everything. I was worried about converting mine but I said screw it and did it. All in all it was simple. My .308 I didnt even need to dril -
+1 for Carolina Shooters Supply

A device to cover the mag relaese so you need to use a tool or bullet to relaese the mag. -

I started my conversion today. Upon re-assembly I noticed I had 2 extra springs. One appears to be a retaining spring for the hammer and trigger pins. My gun had no retainer plate in it. The other spring has a coil on it, which appears to go on one of the pins, with a long leg on it. The rifle seems to operate properly but I want to make sure I don’t leave something out. I am planning on running retaining clips for the pins too.
