  1. 40-50 dollars on plastic mags........with no steel reinforcement on top of that. Sure you gotta pay to play but when the rifle costs so little and the accessories are abnormally high in price, it makes you think maybe a more expensive platform with cheaper, competitive parts and accessories would have been a better choice considering total cost would be about the same.
  2. I wasn't talking about the m1a mag.....or the armalite "ar-10" which is based on the m1a mag. I was talking about the "orginal" ar-10 mag. The one that the DPMS, KAC, R-25, and Magpul Massoud uses. This one..... If the dimensions of this magazine can fit into the magwell of the saiga 308, then surely an adapter can be made to take this magazine.
  3. I was thinking about an adapter that would take DPMS/SR25 mags, which Cproducts sells for 21.99. -The mag locks the same way as the ar15 223 mags, thus, the 308 adapter wouldn't be much different than the 223 adapters and that would simplify production. -The DPMS/SR25 pattern mag is becoming a standard for new 308 rifle designs (ex: massoud, xcr-m) because of similarity to ar15 mags (doesn't rock in like AK mags, has bolt catch, etc.). -As it becomes standard, the price drops because of more manufacturers bringing this pattern mag to the market (Magpul 308 mag for $20 any body?) So
  4. I was reading about the saiga 12 on wikipedia and it said that leaving 12ga shells in the mags for a few days will cause the shells mouth to turn into an oval and will cause a failure to feed. Is this true? Have any of you had this happen?
  5. Does anybody know if this rifle can take galil orlite mags straight out of the box? Or do you have to modify the mags first? atlantic firearms saiga galil rifle
  6. Well, for sure, the Saiga rifles are ak-74 patterned. This means that parts from ak-74 rifles should fit in a Saiga 223, however, parts like the barrel must be re chambered and the bolt face must be modified for 223. I don't think there are any "ready to go" parts for Saigas.
  7. What do you have to do to a Saiga 223 magazine well for it to accept unmodified Galil mags, orlite and steel? I like the idea of a 223 AK but I'd rather stick with one type of magazine. Seeing how I plan on getting a 223 Galil in the future, it would be nice if both the galil and the Saiga use the same mag. I don't own a Saiga either, but if the conversion won't take much then I might go for one.
  8. That's freakin' NICE!!!!! Almost looks like the RPK 5.56mm I want to build that used Galil mags, but with a 20" barrel and an RPK butt stock.
  9. Tromix You see the "Tromix Saiga 308 rifle"? Is that an m14 mag it's using? And if it is an M14 mag, is it modified to fit into the rifle...or...is the rifle modified to use regular m14 mags?
  10. Is it possible to make an RPK 5.56mm out of a Saiga 20" barrel 5.56mm rifle? Let's see, you can convert it to traditional pistol grip and stock. BUT....can the mag-well be converted to take Galil magazines? Can you put a bipod on it, close to the muzzle like a real RPK? Hell, I might as well ask, can you put a real RPK bipod on the Saiga 5.56mm? And, is the Saiga's barrel already heavy barreled? I don't have a Saiga 5.56mm but if this project would work out and cost less than $1,000 then I will try to go for it. I was thinking about saving money to get an RPK74 but I'd mu
  11. Are Saiga's built with SAAMI or NATO specs? Is it ok to shoot 5.56mm and 7.62mm NATO rounds into Saiga 223 and 308?
  12. 50 BMG costs like a dollar something. So 14.5mm and .700 would be hella expensive.
  13. Yeah, you probably end up with a magazine fed NSV-Utes HMG, if it was chambered for the Russian 50 caliber round.
  14. You guys think it's possible to make an AK chambered for .700 nitro? Man, that would be the sickest! I think there would probably be problems with the gas system or something. I think it would be great for a show peice. What about one chambered for 14.5mm Russian? With a 30 rounds magazine!
