  1. 41% Dixie. Odd, I was raised in Alaska. My dad was raised in Oklahoma so I suppose that is where I get it.
  2. I looked online at the halo forums. Looks like they haven't posted any news since october of last year. Wonder if they are just focused on the production of their quad rails for the moment.
  3. There's a number of online sellers. I have heard good things about Gilbert's Guns. There's also Atlantic Firearms and Impact Arms as well. Check with them for stock onhand. If they do have them send to to your local FFL dealer.
  4. Uh, Juggs, wasn't penicillin discovered in 1928? I think I remember this from my pharmacology class. It was put into wide use though in the '40s.
  5. Uh, not to be a killjoy or anything but has there been any word from the ATF. I would love to order one but the state I live in may have rules against DDs. David, have you talked to them at all? Have they already made their decision on the matter?
  6. They might knock their asshat off. Who needs terrorists when we have our own homegrown fucktards.
  7. The shoulder-mounted blaster system from Predator and his killer frisbee.
  8. As it turns out, they still make those things. They are a custom order item from American arms and I have a feeling that they are probably a bit more than what my friend paid for it. His incidentally came as a fully automatic rifle, sadly, he had to send it back to be "remanufactured" due to the laws of the state he lived in.
  9. I guy I work with has one of those things. When they were available they were around 800 dollars. I can't remember the name of it. His was semi-auto though. His quote about the thing was load it during the week and shoot it all weekend.
  10. I run with USAA and have no regrets. They are a bit more expensive than geico but their customer service is outstanding. they also offer other services you might decide to use later on in life. Only those that were in the military or dependents of are elegable to use usaa. It's run by mostly ex-military who understand the difficulties that service life can bring. Just my 2 cents.
  11. Two schools of thought here. One is to push the envelope, come what may. The second is to take precautions with every step. I wonder which will prevail. The anti-gunners are going to have a field day with the Virginia tech tragedy and they may find fuel with the introduction of a gigantic drum for a ak style shotgun. The other side of this is that there will always be wackos out there and we can't let their actions deprive us of our rights. Just my 2 cents I guess.
  12. I thought one of the first PG rifles would have been the Thompson machine gun. I also understood that the PG allowed for more flexible shooting positions with better stabilization. Just my 2c.
  13. That is explained by another ER phrase "drunk luck". The higher the blood alcohol content, the more likely the person is to survive whatever stupid thing they did while drunk.
  14. The Kel-tek would definately be cheaper. Those sub-2000's are kind of small for me, but for cheap compact fun carbine you could do worse. I have an Oly .223 that I built, never have had a single difficulty with it. The receiver is also warranteed for life. If it breaks, they will send you a new one. The advantage with the Oly is that you can get different uppers to suit your particular mood. Another inexpensive alternative would be one of those high point carbines with the aftermarket stocks, thing looks like a baretta storm. There is a thread on this board talking just about that.
  15. One difficulty you might encounter with the Galil style charging handle is that your hand will get hung up on the rear sight or rail mounted optics if you are trying to reach over the receiver. Now as far as the barrel length goes, what I have been told is that we in Washington cannot have shotguns with a barrel length under 18 inches and must be at least 26 inches long. No DDs and no full-autos. Here's a link: http://volokh.com/posts/1165014698.shtml
  16. The whole thing has taken an interesting turn. I live right across the river from Portland in Vancouver. On the news last night they had a piece on those pictures. Apparently it was some college student that took the pics and the way she described the incident, the asshats that pulled that shit weren't really asociated with the rest of the protesters. Even the liberal media there gave the burning in effigy a negative slant. One has to know that those f-wads that did that were cowards, they covered their faces. In doing what they did all they have done is strengthened my resolve to support both
  17. Not an easy or cheap round to find or buy. From what I have read the round penetrates well through bullet-proof vests but has very questionable knockdown power. There are better rounds out there. Those FNs are interesting looking little guns but if I was going to get a bullpup design I might wait for the new Kel-Tek .308. Once that is out I will be interested in the reviews for that thing.
  18. Ray Nagin is a bottom-feeding idiot who is ignoring a court-order to return those confiscated weapons. My guess is he will claim some kind of race conspiracy, call in Al Sharpton and pout in front of the cameras. Later the media will blame the Federal government for some inadaquacy and the rights of the gun-owners will be forgotten. Nagin and his police management are worse than the looters in New Orleans.
  19. Anybody see that Futureweapons episode with the .416 Barrett? 2,500 yards accurate! That kind of range would keep all the baddies away. Since I will never be able to afford that I'll stick with my ultmate hunting rifle, a remington 700 30-06, built in the 60's, parkerized and glass bedded with a Leupold 2-8x scope with heavy duty mounts. It has been the bane of many deer and is as much rifle as I can carry with a full load.
  20. The development of this kind of feeding device for the Saiga was eventually going to happen. The s-12 is pretty unique compared to any other shotgun you can get in the US. The kind of people that own them are tinkerers by nature (the ultimate evolution of this being Tromix and those folks). Some just have more skills than others (myself being the latter). If there is enough demand for a drum, someone will figure out a way to do it. There are a lot of creative people out there and many of us have reaped the benefits of their creativity. Let the guy be, if you don't like what he is doing, don't
  21. Another country that has full auto machine guns in almost every household is Switzerland. Going to the gun range there is a family event and is required for most to keep skills current. I don't here about much criminal activity there.
  22. I found a bit more info, it will accept the .308 fn mags, and will cost nearly $2000!
