  1. They have been kind of hit or miss with their gear. The sub 2000 is too short for most adults. The SU-16 is an interesting idea if you want a .223 that can fold up and uses the same type of mechanisms as the AR. Personally I don't really like their pistols. This new rifle might be something worth considering if hi-cap mags are available. Looks like they use a rock and lock system, I wonder if that would make it harder to use a longer mag? Other interesting feature is the forward ejecting brass system. I haven't seen that before. Does that work well?
  2. The problem I see, is that the people that would truly do the best job for us want nothing to do with politicians and thus never run. Politician is kind of a dirty word, kinda like lawyer.
  3. I looked online about this lady. If you look in the list of campaign contributors you will see one is a lobby for malpractice attorneys. These guys don't want a cap on how much one can collect from medical malpractice. Mccarthy was a nurse! To those in the medical field this is like sleeping with the enemy! I think this just shows what kind of a person McCarthy is. That and right after she introduced that knee-jerk piece of shit legislation she also voted to condemn the troop surge. I feel sorry for the folks that live in New York (not New York City).
  4. Thanks for your sacrifices, they are not forgotten. This is the land of the free BECAUSE of the brave.
  5. +1 on the S-100 and Tromix areas. I do have a concern about the S-100 though. Anyone have any thoughts on how that sheet metal receiver would be able to deal with certain higher power loads? I fully agree with BRG3 that the 30-06 is one of the top rounds for hunting. I use one when I hunt in Alaska knowing that it can stop anything, even the big browines that tend to be about. When I hunt in that type of area I use the 220 grain loads. I would worry about receiver flex with the heavier loads and loss of accuracy. Is this a real concern, or am I being a bit of a nay-sayer?

    "SHTF" = WTF

Uhhh guys, when did we get so far off the original topic? I don't think Bob intended this to turn into a flame war or a diatribe regarding ethnicity.

Medicine can become a big issue when things break down. Having extra meds on hand may just save your life. I tell people all the time to keep several epi pens strategically placed, I've seen it save lives.

I guess it's all in what you think SHTF really means. For me it would mean that my kid got out of her diapers and started playing with the suprise inside by smearing it on anything nearby. Being prepared for a weeks worth of power outage seems reasonable, beyond that, the dedication of time, money and resources just is too much unless you guys know something I don't.
  9. I know I am going to get a ration for this but ... Branch: Coast Guard (Department of Transportation) Units: Umpua River Heavy Weather Station, CGC Acacia (Michigan), Academy New London Years Served: 1994-1999, 2001 (Briefly) MOS: Electrician's Mate Service Rifle: 03-a3 modified to lauch a heaving line Pay Grade: e5
  10. Work in an ER, father of two girls. The latter are much more time intensive!
  11. Try FBMG for the five rounders. They seem like good people. As for the 10 rounders, AGP has a spot on their website that you send them an e-mail stating your interest and they will e-mail you when they are making more, that way you will get first dibs! You might also try The Gun Source.com. They may still have a few.
  12. 6500, you are correct. I don't think that will have any effect on type I DM. As for type 2, most people can control it by diet and exersize it is just that most don't. It takes disipline and self-control.
  13. Just minutes ago I finally received mine from TGS and it didn't even come with a feed lip. Gotta go make some calls.
  14. I've settled on the fact that the 7.62 x 39 saiga does it's best work to about 150 meters. It's meant to be rode hard and put away wet and still work like a champ the next day. If you want a bench-rest sub 1" moa shooting 7.62 you may end up spending a lot of money and time with modifications and upgrades. I have taken mine for what it is and really enjoy the hell out of it.
  15. Faves: Alaskan Amber, Victoria Bitter (Australian, can't get it here dammit!) Worst: Blatz (the name says it all)
  16. not to mention they tax everything. They'd tax the air you breath if they could figure out how. I don't think the Saiga 12 is legal there either. All of it is illegal in San Fran.
  17. Just went for a hike with the family, remembered my time in, my friends and family that had served and were still serving and thanked the greater powers that there are people brave enough to do what needs and needed to be done.
  18. I don't have a preference really. Now it is going to be whatever comes in copious amounts since the democrats are taking over in congress. Welcome to the Hotel Kalifornia.
  19. The guy is an ass-hat. The bigger problem is that some of those kids probably believed him. Our military is an all-volunteer service, that is something to be really proud of.
  20. As someone who works in health care I can second what you are saying. People want the easy way out, in pill form. As far as kettleballs go, I am a bit suspect. I stay in decent shape and go to the gym regularly. I have seen the kettle balls show up. I talked to some trainers about it and some sports therapists, the result was the same, the kettleballs are prone to destroying your shoulders and your back. You have to use absolute proper form or you risk permanent injury to joints and tendons. Apparently not good for the beginner. Just my .02 cents.
  21. Put me in for a couple as well. I have a few ideas I would like to try with them to make them work.
  22. Would they work on the five-rounders as well? (I haven't been swift enough to pick up an 8 rounder yet)
  23. I have been lurking around online and have noticed a trend with rifle platform development. It appears that nearly every country that designs rifles are all trending toward the bullpup configuration with lots of plastic cladding. They also appear to have attachment points virtually everywhere to add every concievable gadget and gizmo available. What are people's thoughts on this? Personally I follow the KISS principle since exotic tech is nearly impossible to fix by the average joe.
