Converted Saiga x39 .Vs Arsenal SGL series
ae13291 replied to marlborocowboy92's topic in Saiga 7.62 X 39
the same rifle, what ever a SGL has your saiga can have the same, btw most of the newer saiga production have a non stepped barrel. also the arsenal has a ak-74 style brake not a actual zigzag -
oh i dident know the factory uses the same FA disconnector in saiga rifles
-
well i will think about it if i have any major problems
-
does not look to bad at all, would the ejector be the same? if i had an extra bolt i would do it.

Bulgarian AK-74 Brake safe for 7.62x39?
ae13291 replied to Klassy Kalashnikov's topic in Saiga 7.62 X 39
those brakes are chrome lined so its kind of a shame to dremal it down a bit but do what you need to -
thanks for the pics. i sure can see the differances in the bolts. i wonder if a 5.45 ak bolt can be machined open to accept a 7.62 round
-
try to avoid any oil in the gas piston area. well since i dont clean my saiga, the way i clean the PSL GB is i spray some gun scrubber and blow air through the gas block hole with a compressor.

An AKM carrier is higher than a 74 type or a 100 series like the saiga. It will not fit. I tried it with a few different AKM variants. I posted a few pictures of this in the past. The carrier arm will not slip into the 74 style rear sight block opening. i got a romanian akm carrier to fit in my saiga, it slid back and forth but the bolt will not go in, only the carrier.
-
AKM bolt will not work! the shaft of the bolt is much thicker then a standard Saiga 7.62 bolt. so forget using a AKM bolt and carrier in a saiga
-
congrats man it really looks great! now go shoot it
-
just file the catch like mentioned above. nice deal on the siaga!

i have 1 tapco mag to stay complient with the law and thats the only reason i have it. its an ok mag, it locks in nice and tight and no side to side wobble, mine feeds properly with no problems
-
i made my own bullet guide (flat) and i had no problems with the stock mags.
-
its a normal typical saiga, it is converted, you can tell by the old sporter plate holes. if your rifle had the dimples and an extra Y stamp then it would have been a rare one to own.

how hard was it to remove the FSB

Sorry to hear about your experience with Centerfire. Must be unusual as I don't think I have ever seen a similar complaint about Centerfire. Bought two guns from them - the last a Draco that had numerous problems. They gladly replaced it with one hand selected and test fired. i dident expect everything in the parts kit to be perfect but i certainly did not want anything that was not usable. the guy told me they dont do quality checks on there parts kits and thats what keeps the costs down.
-
i got mine from armsofamerica, Andrew is a great person to deal with. i just ordered a parts kit from center fire systems and the stock ended up all broken, i called them and they refused to do anything about it, i know its all war time stuff but they sent me trash, i will never buy from them again
-
avoid buying the furniture for tha saiga. do the restoration back to AK config. that way you can buy whatever you want for an AK rifle, it does not need to be saiga specific, it will be much cheaper that way too
-
bottom line fuck all the ak-74 STYLE brakes! if you think there good then your wrong! only the true russian and bulgarian and the US copy brakes are the good ones. (zig zag brake my favorite)
-
damm i wish we had a cabelas in california! my cousin called from Utah and was telling me about all the great sales that are going to start tommarow morning
-
it really looks great! now for that muzzle brake to top it all off.
-
what state are you in? i know in my state the minimum rifle length must be 30"
-
Anyone try red loctite for thread locking on a brake at the muzzle?

i used gasoline rated yellow teflon tape. it worked fine for me
