I was on another AK Forum and found a link to this company. http://www.blackthorneproducts.com/ If you go to the photo gallery on the site, they have some Saiga 7.62x39's that they show with some of the parts that they sell and I've seen people looking for this type of thing so I thought I'd post it.

I received the latest 'Cheaper Than Dirt' catalog and the other day and was surprised to see Barnaul and Brown Bear advertised. Seems like more is available. I'd like to see some American made 7.62x39. Is there some legal reason we don't??

Some guy on the THR forum was posting that to sight as AK you should set the rear sight at 2 for 25 yds. He had data on the trajectory on the bullet which showed that 25yds is equal to 200yds. Once you were sighted in @ 25 yards on 2, you would be good on 1 for 100 yards. 2 for 200 yards and 3 for 300 yards. I hadn't heard that before and he seemed to have the data to back it up. I haven't tried this yet but I thought I would give it a try the next time I hit the range.

I'm kinda interested in one of those myself. Isn't there like an adapter piece or something else that is required to install on an AK?? Also, I'd love to see a pic of one installed on a Saiga\AK if anyone has one.

Nice. Do they take the full size CZ mags? I've been thinking about getting the SAO but DA/SA might give more options. How is the SA pull? They do not take the full size mags. The standard compact mag carries 10 rounds. I also carry a PCR. The SA trigger is fine, but not in the same league as a 1911 trigger. They can be a little gritty, but usually improve with use. Hope this helps. There's you answer.

CZ PCR or P-01. I usually carry the PCR which is the one without the rail.

Does he know something thing that most people don't want to think about? The NY Times had article or maybe editorial calling for the government and particularly FEMA to prepare for the aftermath of a nuclear detonation on American soil. Course the huge flaw I see in that is, and correct me if someone here knows more than I do, that Washington DC would be a logical target

Another inquiring mind here!!! I've been looking at alternative rear sight options. I was on AR15.com the other day. I didn't realize that with the flat tops, they have these flip-up rear sights. Real nice!! It even has me thinking about an AR.

That was great!! Seems like I'm starting to here more and more of this. People fed up. Unfortunately for this fellow, demographic realities point to the fact that soon he will be living in Londonistan. While we are on this topic, a local church did this fund raiser to aid the Christians in Sudan. Tents and food are great but I got to thinking that a more effective Christian misson might be to take a month or two for some military training and have a bunch of us Christians go over there and protect these people. Maybe put an end to it. I've been reading about this stuff for decades now

I've never shot a AR15\M16 but even the grouping that shooter got seemed bad to me as well.

Just wondering if anyone has seen this: I know this has been debated over and over but it's got me wondering if our Saiga 7.62's as inaccurate as the AK47 they used in the demo?? This had me pondering a AR purchase for a few moments until I realized a Saiga 308 would be cheaper. Would a Saiga 308 be as accurate as an AR? Or does that fact that it's an AK platform diminish the accuracy in some way??

I stumbled on that group about a year ago. Imagine my suprise when I Google Mapped their location and discovered they were about 5 miles from my house!! I made a few calls to state and local law enforcement. They verified everything I was reading on the internet about the group. I took a little ride by their compound. Lots of neighbors near this location. Most have very high fences around their yards. A few homes have the Stars & Bars flyin. I suspect that if anything was going on there, the neighbors would be able to handle it!!!

I have my CZ PCR 9mm that I keep close at night. I've been thinking about this and IF something was to happen like a home invasion, wouldn't the police at least take the weapon you used for a while as part of the investigation?? It makes me consider that I don't want to have my favorite gun being what I would use to defend myself. I've been thinking about getting another handgun and a cheap SKS and have that be the first rifle I'd grab (if the situation required a rifle) rather than grabbing my Saiga and then having the police potentially confiscate it. Let them take the cheap SKS. Maybe

I received a PK-01 Red Dot from Kalinka Optics the other day and thought I would post some pics of it. The last pic is of a Leapers 3x9-40 Scope mounted on a low profile AK mount also from Kalinka. I like the scope but the larger front hits the AK site. Not sure if I'm going to keep that scope. Enjoy!!

While looking for pics from the 2007 Shot Show, I found this web site: http://www.onpointfirearms.com/shotshow/2007/web/default/ There are some Saiga's on the DAY 1 Link. Go to page 2 of 3 to see the Saiga's. There are a number with Custom DuraCoat finishes. (Not sure if the DuraCoat by it's self is what's being highlighted or the fact that RAA will offer these finishes.) There is also a Saiga 12 with a Tapco style adjustable stock and pistol grip in the correct place. Just thought everyone would be interested.

I guess I'm trying to figure out what best suits me and I'm not sure. Here's a picture if my current setup. With my cheek on the stock, the scope isn't usable. I may get the lower profile mount but then there goes using the std sites. I'm considering maybe getting a Russian PK-AV Red Dot but I'm concerned that the scope will be offset. I'm left eye dominant so I shoot lefty and from pictures I've seen with it mounted, it looks like it's a little off center. The Kobra red dot looks like a nice option, mounted on a lower profile mount.

Some enevitably will say that the sites that came with it are what was intended to be used but I'm wondering what ya'll think goes better with the AK platform. I picked up a scope and I'm wondering if a Red Dot won't be a better option. I keep reading negative things about the AK's accuracy but then see all these Russian Scopes that are available for it. Obviously the Russian's think the AK is accurate enough. Thoughts, opinions and insights would be welcome!!

I ordered a case of Golden Tiger from AIMSurplus and it's being delivered today so I should have some expirience with it soon. I also have some of the Wolf Military Classic. I'm hoping to shoot some next week. I'll post my thoughts about it when I do.

I figured these small purchases would be hidden among all the other credit card purchases and my wife wouldn't know better. She would definately know when I disappeared for the day with a trip to Cobra's House!! Looks like this is one modification I'll have to pass on. I am going to get a muzzle break from Dinzag though.

Well??? I guess I don't know. I checked the Tech Section and didn't see anything (unless I overlooked it) about replacing the Saiga handguard with a KVAR lower and upper handguard. Although I was looking at some stuff from Dinzag and I see he has retainer clips and gas tubes available. I guess I don't just take of the Saiga one and put these on???
