  1. Im wondering if a 20ga bolt head will fit in a 12ga carrier? If it would a rifled tube could be put down a 12ga barrel and bingo rifled slug gun. I know there would have to be some mag foolery and other issues but its something to think of. Or if the whole bcg of the 20 would fit. Would make a bull barrel 20ga that might have a decent shot at good groups.

  2. The 150 yard shots are coming out of a fully rifled rem 870 super slug gun with a 3x9 nikon bdc scope. Its a completly different animal then my s12. Im working on trying to get good groups out of my current s12. Out of the 5 i have had all liked different slugs and one could stick them in the same ragged hole at 100 yards while the one now the best i can get is 2 inch groups. If you want 150 its gonna cost, 8 inch hastings tube or a nice custom fast twist one with some nice handloads. Or call century and get some sauvette ammo. Problem is qc on these guns and off the self ammo. Start by slugging your barrel and we will go from there. I have measured barrels on these from 728 to 732. Find out what yours is.

  3. Cheapest ones you can find and practice alot truth be told. Improved cylinder and brenkee are what mine likes. If u want a rifled tube setup its going to cost more for choke setup and more per shot for slugs. When ur going past 100 is where rifled shines. Well it will always be better but 2 inch smooth bore groups i consider acceptable for deer. My super slug gun can cloverleaf at 150 but that took awhile to find right load. Best bet is go buy two boxes of everthing and try them. Check out the american slug shooting foundation for tips then get out and practice.

  4. Your telling me im the one that drove to er shaw barrel mfr and waved around a fistful of cash to get a slug barrel made years ago. Now people are making them. I also tried to get sauvestre ammo in which smokes everthing else. Century has it now but 5 rounds for 40 bucks. Thats the crazy ammo its still climbing at 300 yards. I hope it keeps going like this with the new models coming out in saigas too. I want that interchangeable barrel system tony made a couple years ago too.

  5. Horandy will walk all over anything not custom but and its a BIG but most rifleing is way to slow for them to really get nuts. 1 in 36 is the most common but these really shine in a faster twist. Alot of custom builders are having good luck with 1 in 24 all the way up to 1 in 20

  6. Correct one off molds are what he does. If you look at the catalog all those are one off user submitted designs. Once you submit them he adds them to his catalog. Excellent customer service he will even go off a generalised idea and help you flush out the concept.

  7. Well it looks like things are coming along in the slug world. I have been playing with this for a while and have found accurate molds will make whatever you want. Im enjoying the 770 grain thumper but they have all the way to 900 grain. Gun fun you should email that drawing to that place and he will knock one out for you relativly cheap. Im trying to come up with the funds for a swagging set up so i can copper jacket my lil project made just for saigas. The beauty of it all is we need not follow the masses when we get this far in. Pointed slugs with a decent bc will work nicely.

  8. The actual saiga one is about 130 dollars. What are you trying to shoot out of it slug wise? If u have a slug in mind i can tell u what type of choke you want for all are not created equal. Slug speed and wieght will depend on twist rate. Also full bore or sabot? Brenkee, foster or sauvette? (yes i am back with the super slug project)

  9. Well I searched and I'll be damned if I can find any record of the actual bore size of the s12. I'm wondering if its the somewhat common .729/.730 I want to shoot some of the dixie slugs dangerous game slugs.870 grains of squirrel vaporizing greatness

  10. I had one that did the same thing, I got it free with gun sent it to promag and they sent a gen2 version. Up until about 2 months ago it was my favorite mag but after around 7000 rounds its getting kinda worn out and loose but I couldn't really ask for anything more

  11. I think most of the replies on this subject is why we are seeing issues with 3 inch now. No one sees a reason to use them. Look at the new 2011 s12s they are tuned more towards 2 3/4, the drums are the same way. Me personally I think if I don't know what's happening I want the biggest most god awfully powerful thing I can get. Just cause u don't use 3 inch all the time dosent mean that they should be any less reliable. No one seems to be bothered by this turn of events. For years I have had a 10 gauge for home defense, I have no neighbours so maximum overkill is what I'm after. Any ways back to ur mag problem. Look and see how much of ur mag is inserted compared to the factory one. One of my agps sat higher and had the same problem. A lil off both tabs and some jb weld on the top to take out wiggle helped a lot

  12. Also what rate are u looking at? U could easily run smaller gas ports too to keep plastic and fouling out for the simple reason that it won't be used for anything but slugs. I might pull my barrel next week and draw the chamber end. I really wish I knew how tromix did the quick change barrel one

  13. I would love to test one to destruction. These damn things are built more heavy duty then my 3 1/2 mag or my h and r 10 gauge. With the way the lugs are on the bolt and the thick ass heavy duty barrel I think they could handle way more then 10500. They only way to know would be to work loads up while having it in a jig get it to a level u like then tear it down a xray and ultrasound the whole damn thing for damage. And no I'm not saying go ahead and load the shit out of it.

  14. Well first which barrel length do u want this for 19 or 24 or would u do like most slug guns and have a 20? Secondly do u want the short barrel hood or the new longer hood? 2,3 or 4 ports and what size? Can u locate the gun tony built with interchangeable barrels to look at it or get his input on this since he has already done this? These were the questions I came up with while tryin to get one made. I'm working on full solid works prints in my spare time but working 80 hours a week I'm not making much headway . I have put some research into this so if u want pm me and I will turn over my thoughts

  15. I had an idea it was something like that. I knew they were still the storefront here but they were gone from css and maa so I figured something was up. I really don't like the fact that they would undercut the vendors. That's just kind of dirty and I can not really blame anyone for not carrying them now. Are sgm mags just as good? Cause I really don't feel like dealing with a company that will screw over vendors that I trust and have have good dealings with

  16. .08 clearance isn't a whole hell of a lot. I'm kind of worried by that but I guess they are just following the market probably by the same reason the autoplug was designed around 2 3/4, the fact that no one really goes out and dumps a bunch of 3 inch. well I guess yet again I am an exception to the norm. since I have gotten into hand loading I have been firing these a lot I have a good anti squirrel load worked up the fires on #3 of the v plug (more payload of bird shot vs the magnum velocity ) firing great quantities of them seems to wear the plastic ramps of the mags more then 2 3/4 does though. I would really rather see the factory go the other way with it and offer a 3 1/2 inch mag chamber then going to a more of a 2 3/4 preferred type chamber. there are some nasty ooo buck loads and some slugs out there for the super mag. or if some one just makes me a Saiga 10 gauge I will shut up and go away
