  1. TAC. How do you recommend cleaning the plug. I was thinking flushig it with remoil into the ports and blowing it dry with compresses air. ?????
  2. Just got done tuning my S12 with the auto plug and I hve to say I am nothin g less than impressed. I was using an 08 3 port gun with Winchester universal. Plug took about 1 full turn to function flawlessly. I used 1/4 turns till I could dump my 8 round mag no problem. Then I staggered universal, brenneke KO slugs and handloaded 00 buck. Again mag dump no problem. Great product!!!
  3. The SAW Grip was too thick for my liking. I went with the regular AK Grip from TAPCO however you need to order the pistol grip screw kit from CSS. Works great for me. I had the TAPCO tri rail. It was kinda cheap feeling. I just ordered the Chaos tri rail. From what I read it is the standard for rails for the Saiga 12. Instead of a VFG you should check out the Magpul AFG. It has mixed reviews on here but I love it. I have the AFG 2 which is smaller and doesn't take up much rails. It is also very inexpensive Check out www.skdtac.com Jason
  4. Hey guys I was wondering if anyone as any advise for my situation here. I went out to sight in my WASR 10/63 and i was shooting really nice groups at 25 yards in order to zero however I still needed to come down on my Point of Impact however I have the front sight maxed out in terms of elevation. Would trimming the top of the sign down a millimeter or so solve this. Thanks Jason
  5. Hey guys, Not too many people here post reviews or ideas when it comes to support gear to go with their Saiga/AK Systems, so I figured I'd give it a shot. Initially I was in the market for a modular pouch that would be able to hold a Factory Saiga 12 5 rounder. Then my quest went toward a pouch that would go with my AK (WASR/SGL) US Palm Magazines. Ideally I wanted a system that was multifacited. I wanted the ability to run shotgun/rifle/pistol all from the same MOLLE set. I did not want to go the route of a chest rig due to experience with running chest rigs in the Army and having a ten
  6. I currently have a Saiga 12 and a WASR 10/63 at a place called Black Ice Coatings out of UT. Lee over there at BlackIce got my long guns mid week last week and he said he was going to mail them off on Monday. Pretty quick turn around time seeing how people like customizedcreations are looking at a 6 week turnaround for a Cerekote refinish. This stuff is supposed to be more durable than cerekote and is a pure teflon coating that gets more slick with wear. Lee was charging me 125 per gun. I am going to write a review on the Saiga 12 board once they come in so look out for that. I had previo
  7. Hey guys I just got a Tromix Skeleton Stock to mount on one of my Saigas and I noticed that the mounting holes are off center from the stock? Is there a particular reason for this. I was going to add a folding mechanism. This is on the only reason I can see for them to be off center is to compensate for that. Thanks Jason
  8. Hey guys, I just wanted to post some pics of my latest mod to my HD Saiga 12. I opt'd for the CSS AR Style Hand Guards and the Slotted Barrel Shroud. As always I got the package extremly quick. I am in Arizona and I go the package within a week. The handguard went on very easy just like the video on CSS.com. Mine took 2 spacers to level it out and you will actually see if your gas block is canted or not. Mine is actually canted to the left a tad. As for the barrel shroud it went on just as easy however I noticed on the video where CSS showed how to convert a saiga 12 the barrel shroud
  9. Hey guys I recently pulled of my gas block and drilled out my ports a bit. I kept the front 2 (towards the barrel) the same diameter I just cleaned it out a bit with the same diameter bit. The bottom hole however I went up two sizes on the bits (can't remember the size. I did it about 3 months a go and the gun is currently being refinished) Do you guys this will over gas the system. If so what precautions can i take to bleed off some of the gas?? Maybe a medium twister puck instead of the standard. Thanks Jason
  10. How do you like that stock. I was thinking of gettingnone of those
  11. Hey guys. I was messing around with my AKs this afternoon and I figured I'd try and replace my factory Arsenal trigger on my SGL 21 with a Tapco G2 trigger and JT Engineering recoil spring from CSS. I have to tell you the trigger pull and reset is money. Granted I have only dry fired it but I was wondering if anyone has used this with live rounds and what their experience is. One thing I am worried about and thinking about replacing is the recoil spring. I like the "Mil Spec" of the factory spring as opposed to the competition style of the JTE Spring. Anyone have any experience with the JTE sp
  12. I am running the DPH billet stock. Having bothe the Ace and this I can tell you this one is a heck of a lot more solid and I think it might be a little lighter too. 8.5 inches with no recoil pad. So you have to man up with this stock
  13. I have spoke to CSS about their S12s and he said that if you call he will check out the ports prior to shipping. Not sure if kvar does that but I have ordered from kvar before and they are fairly quick. Not CSS quick though
  14. Federal Powershok out of my SGL 21 with a 2.5-7 power scope and a bench
  15. Hey guys. I have been considering using my SGL 21 for hunting. I would primarily like to hunt deer and pig with it. I currently have a weaver 2.5-7 Variable power scope which I'm getting about 1-1.5 MOA with. So accuracy is not an issue. How big of game can you go with this round also?? Thanks Jason
  16. I have been tossing around this idea also. After converting I went to go shoot and the BHO spring slipped off mid shot and jammed the BHO lever into the action. I went home and fixed it then went back out to the range and it happened again. Needless to say I was really pissed. I tried the bend in the spring and everything. This was a catastrophic failure that required complete dosassembly along with using tools like a hammer to get the recoil spring out that was locked back. IMHO the only mechanical liability with the saiga 12, providing you shoot high brass which I do...train like you fight!!
  17. Hey guys figured I'd share that I am gonna take the dive and go with this black ice coating www.blackicecoatings.com. Bout a 2 week turn around and 125 bucks. The guy who does it said that this teflon coating is self lubricating. I already have the bolt carrier rails and hammer polished so we will see how it works with this. He has also told me that it is more durable than cerekote. So we will see. I have my 12 currently duracoated and I want something more durable. I'll let you know how it turns out and post some pics Jason
  18. I have the 7.5 with the folding mechanism. Which adds an inch or so. Plus you get the benifit of it being able to fold
  19. Hey everyone. I have been looking into the TAC 47 Auto Plug and in my research I ran across the MD Arms V Plug. I really like the design of this plug over my Gunfixr Plug for the reason of the recessed area on the inside of the plug which is supposed to accumulate fouling and keep it off of the piston. Anyone have any comments or experience with this plug and how it performs in terms of keeping the ports and gas plug clean. I am currenly running the gunfixr with no issues however it does get really dirty with a lot of firing. Also anyone with any experience with the TAC 47 Auto plug would also
  20. Hey guys I was wondering if anyone has tried this out yet. I really like the idea of both of them and also the look. I also like the fact that I wont burn the hell out of my hand touching the barrel after shooting. Anyone have any pics. I was also wondering about the weight. I really like to keep my saiga as light as possible if anyone knows how much these two items would add. Thanks Jason
  21. SGM Tactical makes a cleaning kit for the gas tube. Tht works really well. It's a stainless steel bore brush that you attach to a drill. It cleans it out really quickly the kit also comes with a dental pick for the gas ports. Get it at Carolina shooter supply Jason
  22. Hey guys, I have a converted Saiga 12 that is currently Duracoated in Tactical Grey. I really want something more durable. I have ready access to a gunsmith that can Park and Moly Resin however I am really curious about the whole Cerekote Deal. The only put off is the wait time that a lot of custom shops seem to have. Any one have any preferences Jason
  23. Hey Gents, Just as a background. I have both a WASR 10/63 (My first AK purchase....probably wouldn't have gotten it if I know what I know now) and an Arsenal SGL 21. I am torn between setting up which one as my designated GO TO gun. Go to gun meaning, knowing what I know now, I would get an Ultimak Gas Tube Rail to mount my micro red dot in order to cowitness with my irons. I would also like a folding stock capability. My WASR has a slightly canted front sight but nothing really all that bad. It shoots fine and I have never had a jam in the 800 rounds or so I have shot through it. It
  24. I have the standard and primarily shoot high brass 00 buck. Not sure if it helps cycling however I do like the cleaning aspect of the puck
