  1. I saw a Saiga 5.45 on GB that I was thinking about getting and doing a build. I asked the seller the first few digits of the serial # so I could determine the date of manufacture, and he said H0988...... (which should be 2009, correct?) I found that to be interesting because the gun(s) are listed as "factory new", which may very well be true, but why would they be selling factory new 2009 rifles in 2014? Anyhow.... Now,this was before I found a thread on here regarding keyholing issues due to wrong barrels/twist rate on maybe a couple Mercury Hermes Saiga 5.45 rifles a few years back with t
  2. I'm always kind of leery when a muzzle device claims to be both a muzzle brake and a flash hider. Anybody know of one that is actually effective at doing both? I was looking at the "Russian Original Flash Hider" that CNC Warrior has.Certainly looks cool and the price is right, but how effective is it at doing both?
  3. From what I understand the Saiga 5.45 with 20" barrel has a thicker barrel diameter than the 16". So, will the barrel on a 20" need to be tapered in order for a threaded 74 FSB to fit? I'm sure this has probably been discussed before, but I couldn't find anything specific in the forum search.
  4. Are you sure the bolt carrier is seated on the rails properly?
  5. I always thought the .308 had a thicker barrel (and receiver) than the other calibers.
  6. What if you use a 74 brake for 7.62 on a 5.45 rifle, will it reduce effectiveness?
  7. ....or at least cover it up? I'm thinking of buying a friend's Saiga, but it's got that hideous "velcro patch" on the right side of the receiver. I know it's minor, but it detracts from the look of the rifle IMO. I'm wondering if I refinish with rattle can paint if it will improve the way it looks or just make it worse. I've heard the new Saigas don't have this. I might just wait until I can get a new one at a decent price, which might be quite a while, but oh well.
  8. Are these any good? Anyone here own one?
  9. I noticed this when I went to the website this morning. At the top of the homepage it says Future Firearms. All the other pages and the address bar still say Classic Firearms though.
  10. Just wondering if anyone has used both and if they find one design to be more effective than the other.
  11. Resident Evil 4 was pretty hard, never did beat it. Didn't really put that many hours into it though.
  12. Didn't realize it was a Bulgy FSB.Thanks for clarifying.
  13. The title says it all. Thanks in advance.
  14. I know alot of people refinish their Saigas when they convert them due to the fact that the parkerized factory finish scratches/scuffs rather easily. I was wondering how many refinish the barrel, gas tube/block,etc.in additon to the receiver and what type of finish they use. I've read that some finishes can chip/peel on barrels if they get hot enough.
  15. What price was it going for and how long ago? I'm thinking seriously about getting one of these. I think my only concern is the fact that they weld the bullet guide instead of the traditonal method.Welding produces alot of heat that could possibly weaken the receiver. Heck,I don't know. What do you think?
  16. I have seen a few of these on Gun Broker.Does anyone know if these are good quality conversions or are they basically hit or miss like other Century Arms' stuff?
  17. Yes indeed, that's one ruthless old bitch! I like how when the KGB agents are speaking English, there isn't even so much as a hint of a Russian/Slavic accent, which is an accurate portrayal, because that's how it was, they were slick!
  18. I haven't been able to follow the show as much as I would like,so I'm kind of lost with what's going on in the story right now.The season premier is Wednesday night at I believe 10 ET. I know one thing,it has a heck of a soundtrack!
  19. You mean just the IZ-340 rilfes, right, not the 240? I sure hope they get some more of those in soon.
  20. I looked on the Zastava website and didn't see any.(unless I overlooked them) They have the 7.62x39 of course and a .308. IIRC, I think I even saw a 5.56/.223, but no 5.45x39? Why in the world would they not make a 5.45 AK? I would definitely scoop one up.
  21. I know,I know, you can't even hardly find any IZ-240 rifles that aren't price gouged, so IZ-340 is out the question right now. Just wondering if anyone knows if and when we will see a fresh shipment of them and at what price point? Personally I think they should make them all in the IZ-340 configuration, makes for easier conversions for those who want to add traditional AK handguards and/or a muzzle device.
