  1. How do you remove the factory recoil spring on these guns ? (I'm trying to install a new one) Do you have to punch out the center axis pin from the guide rod and take it apart ? The pin looks like its peened in there.(crap)
  2. Who makes the best aftermarket choke for the S-12 ? Thanks in advance.
  3. Damn, that was intense ! That was a very well placed shot by the clerk, and not exactly an easy one either considering the assailant was so close to the other clerk he was attacking. Looks like it only took one shot to put him down fortunately. I wonder where the bullet hit.
  4. +1 I hate to see the Saiga 12 associated with BS like this. That's why the AK-47 has the stigma that it does.
  5. I have one on my S-12, no issues.

  7. Looks awesome, nice job. Looks just like my SGL, right down to the Hogue PG. How closely does that OD Circle 10 mag match the furniture ? I was thinking of getting one, but on the K-VAR website it looks like it's a pea soup color.(yuck, hopefully it's just the lighting) Also, the Bulgarian OD mil-surp slings will match your furniture more closely than the Russian ones. That's what I have on my SGL.

Awesome pic. Owls are my favorite kind of bird, especially the Great Horned Owl.
  9. No way. VEPR or not, that's way overpriced IMO.
  10. How come when you manually eject a chambered round on an S-12 it doesn't hurl it out like an AK rifle does ? On my S-12, sometimes I have to literally remove the shell with my free hand, while my SGL-20 throws the round to the next zip code. Just wondering.
  11. I'm really diggin' it, nice work !
  12. I've noticed when disassembling/reassembling my S-12 and my SGL-20 that the recoil spring on my S-12 seems quite a bit stronger/stiffer than on my SGL-20. Does anyone know what the difference in spring weight is between the two ? (just curious)
  13. Did you install the disconnector spring with your trigger group ? IIRC, most G2's don't come with one, you have to buy it seperate. (not sure why) Technically, you should not have it operating like it is currently, but you should be fine, just get it fixed.
  14. Honestly, I would much prefer the Russian made Saiga/Vepr 12 to an American version any day. Also, Arsenal AK's are not American made. They are either Russian or Bulgarian made with the correct number of American made parts added to make them 922r compliant.
  15. I understand that polishing the internals on an S-12 makes the gun cycle smoother by reducing drag, friction, etc. At the same time though, wouldn't it also, upon firing a round, cause the bolt carrier to move rearward with greater force, putting more stress on the recoil spring and therefore the rear trunnion, possibly creating quicker wear in that area ? It just seems that it would when I think about it. Just a thought, but I'm no expert by any means. Thanks for all replies.
  16. Low Brass Reliably ? (continuation of thread title) Well, the title says it all. Anyone done this just for the sake of smoothing out the action or to try to be able to insert a loaded mag without locking the bolt back ? I'm thinking of just polishing the bottom of the carrier and the hammer where those parts make contact for the reasons mentioned. My S-12 cycles the low brass bulk ammo fine on setting 2, but not setting 1, which honestly I prefer it that way. Is there any reason why I shouldn't do this since it already cycles the light stuff reliably ?
  17. What is the shot size, weight, and velocity of the ammo your using in the vid ?
  18. I would recommend running a few boxes of full power loads through it (on setting 1) to break it in. Then try the low brass stuff you have on setting 2. If it still does not cycle reliably, try some 7 1/2 shot, 1 1/8 oz. and at least 1200 fps. I like the Federal and Remington 100 rd. bulk packs, never tried the Winchester. BTW, I don't think you can return ammo, but I've seen stranger things happen at wally world.

    Uh Oh...

They wouldn't be able to do anything with the S-12's and high cap mags/drums we already own though, right ?
