  1. I opened up my ports just a tiny bit a while back don't remember what size it was exactly but i recently talked with tac47 industries because my gun would only cycle with the auto plug being screwed all the way in with wally world winchester crap 12ga ammo. this ammo functions fine with the default plug but when i switched it out for the autoplug it would hickup at least 2 times in 10 rounds. when i was on the phone with tac47 he recommended opening up the gas ports with a 41 drill bit which is .096 which seems like it might be a little to big. i was thinking about opening it up to a 48 or 5/
  2. maybe at your wally world but here in the cali were hard pressed to actually find ammo for the most part. last couple of walmarts ive been to have only had win bulk pack and not the federal. ill have to look around for some federal, but as it stands i have almost 500 rounds of win bulk which is why i want to try and make it work. I can try opening up the gas holes one wire size at a time till it works. i also have a tac47 plug to install after i get this all set up and correct. dont shoot to many slugs but i do shoot a lot of bird shot.
  3. i know its been a while since i last posted due to work and school. was finally able to take the saiga 12 to the range, slugs function 100 percent thru the shotgun but win bulk doesnt. the shotgun is a 4 port gas system. how much bigger should i open up the gas ports to allow the win bulk to cycle 100 percent. once the win bulk is 100percent gtg ill change the stock gas plug for the auto plug i have.
  4. i used a sharpie to color the bho when it was in the all locked position so i knew how much to remove. i took off enough for it to extend a tiny amount past the receiver, but now it doesn't irritate my finger at all. gonna take it to the shooting range tomorrow and test it with some win bulk ammo to make sure it cycles. also gonna see how much of a difference the css molot brake makes
  5. i ended up not bending the bho and just trimmed about 1/8 of an inch off of it. i didnt freeze the recoil pad, used a descent amount of wd40 which helped a lot. now im just waiting on the CSS molot brake and ill be finished modifying this shotgun for a while. still hant to add optic and handguards but thoes can wait for now.
  6. since there will only be about an 1/8 or less of material that sticks past the receiver i was plannning on heating the tip with a torch then hammering the metal inwards toward the trigger, while i know this isnt a lot of material to bend just folding it a little will give enough clearence for my trigger finger but also with the bend going inwards i will be able to still install and remove the bho. the trigger will need to be removed to install the bho. worst comes to worst, i screw it up and have to spend another 14 for a new bho. bought some 80 grit and 120 grit sanding belts for my sande
  7. almost home free, was contemplating bending the excess metal on the bho inward giving a lip for easier manipulation while moving the excess metal out of the way. also have to get some longer screws for my mag block as the ones that come with the solar tactical are too short to work with the carolina ss trigger guard.
  8. 16oz its the 7/8x5" are there any mods for the bho lever, its sitting to low and irratating my finger.
  9. welded up the extra holes in the receiver from the conversion and painted the receiver with alumahyde 2 flat black. sanded the stock flat in the back and drilled the area where the cleaning kit would go larger to fit the 7/8x5" mercury tube. didnt have a 7/8 drill bit but did have an 29/32 drill bit which is only 1/32 larger. also used the top hole for the recoil pad and drilled a new hole for the lower hole for the recoil pad. epoxied the old screw hole and added some epoxy to the bottom to help strengthen the stock as i removed some plastic ribs that gave the stock strength. all in all yo
  10. holes are welded closed anad ground smooth now just waiting for my brownells order to get here on thursday. might take it to the range to test it with my win bulk to make sure it cycles. the gas plug should be set at 2 for low power loads correct? so say it doesnt cycle what drill size interval i should go with till i get it to work right? i would prefer it to work with the win bulk as i cant find federal bulk to often.
  11. ill check it out, i think im going to go with the dual action purpose pad DA-302-10-M: 1-7/8" x 5-1/4" x 1-1/8" - DA layer 1/4". the measurements for the back of the kvar stock are 1-3/8" wide*4"tall. so that pad should fit it ok, it will just need a bit trimmed down. its also not to far off on the screw holes the pad is 3.125" spacing while center to center on the buttstock is 3.25" so it only needs to get moved outward 1/4" and the stock i will trim down 1/4 of an inch to make it flush. hopefully it goes well and i dont f it up.
  12. wont be any slag, going to be using some pennies as backing plates so the inside is nice and smooth then going to sand the outside down flush then paint it. still trying to decide how im going to install a recoil pad to that plastic stock since the innards are mostly hollow.
  13. got the stock drilled and mounted and test fit everything to make sure its working good. might need to remove a little more metal on the bho but i got everything in and working, trigger and safety are working perfectly. going to take it apart and weld up the 5 holes that i dont need and then paint it with some alumahyde.
