School and stuff. Always with the weapons projects.
  1. I can touch things at 300m without much trouble with a CompM on an 14.5" barrelled M4. Though I don't have much faith in AK accuracy or 7.62x39, I think a CompML3 on a good siderail mount would work out to what I consider the max effective range of an AK. Aimpoints (mil styles) are as tough as the weapon (for an optic). But in the end it depends on the user and their environment. This is almost like a rifleman/designated marksman question. The Russian army does it just like the US army I think. 5.45x39 with some sort of red/green dot/holographic sight that looks like a C-More?
  2. PM sent Quick. I guess I'll say what I have for a sling system. A simple nylon 1"? 2pt that attaches at the front attachment point and around the wire on the stock and simply slides up and down it. I laughed when I put it on for some backwoods training, but it worked so well I left it on. It doesn't interfere with folding the stock and seems to always stay in the right spot, no matter if the stock is folded or not. But I'm going to square that away, hopefully with one of Quick's adapters. =)
  3. I love my AMD, and not just because it's what I have, but what I chose to keep. Mine is on the FEG receiver, I'm not sure if it's SA85 or SA2000 (and I can't check, deployed). Some mags have some wobble but it depends on the magazine. All serial numbers match on mine and it has the smoothest action of any AK I have ever owned or shot. It shoots great, smooth action, no cant, 100% reliable with every mag and drum I've put in it. At the same price as a Romy kit + CAI rebuild, I don't know why more people don't get them. Sorry to hear you have some issues. I'd send it back if European steel m

    Uh Oh...

Sorry csspecs. They're sure quick to blame sellers when they are the ones that went around increasing the demand, and prices. And some aren't to blame at all, like you. But you get grouped in anyway. I feel for ya.

    Uh Oh...

And to think people tried to give me shit about buying some drums and magazines. The same people that were just buying Saigas. Hmmm. Not only did that blog create the fear, so did this threads coverage on it. I'm a member of the NRA, as well as the SAF and others. Paid memberships. I only got through the first link posted. Sorry the NRA's endorsements didn't fit a republican agenda entirely. But they are big, well funded, and do work on the law side for gun rights. They also work on educating people on things that infringe rights. The SAF never told me about the ATF's past.

    Uh Oh...

The ATF seriously needs to be disbanded and replaced with something better. They really are criminals that do whatever they want. Let's put the EPA in charge of this, seriously. At least they recognize their boundaries.
  7. SLR-106F But I'd need to stock up prior with magazines.
  8. The original plastic handguards weren't even functional, no bs. 2-3 full mags down range rather quick and it was cooking my hand. Plus they were flush with the metal fitting that holds it, so you could easily slide your hand and touch metal. Several good burns that day. And a cooked hand. I replaced the furniture with original ones from Kvar. Also looks beautful now. Original AK 2 point slings aren't bad. I'd get the nylon ones though. Also, you can make your own really nice for cheap and any style you want.
  9. My AMD does rattle at all... but I think all AKs hang up. My AMDs bolt will actually stay fully open if I pull it back and ride it slowly forward. Seems more like a feature really. It works in my favor, has a very smooth action, and hasn't ever malfunctioned that I remember. An AK bolt carry doesn't have a single smooth movement compared to like a 10/22 or even an AR.
  10. Btw, StarPD was correct in everything he said. Liberals are saying and doing all those things, that senetor is pushing that bill, and anti-gun talk is all over MSNBC, as to be expected, and some on CNN. So he's really not a crazy extremist. He did his research.
  11. If preban mags and weapons were still legal during the ban, then I don't know wtf all you guys were doing. My excuse is that I was like 5 years old. I only hear about how dumb it was and see all the chopped up and legalized weapons. Seriously, no one seemed to stock up. Now there's a scare and probably the same individuals are saying its nonsense. "Fool me twice..." No, I don't think the ban will be back any time soon, but overconfidence never pays off. Besides, I have NO idea what you all are talking about. I'm being ripped off with my mass buy? Really? I didn't join in for the O
  12. Ah, wtf, it didn't post. FFS, here I go again, but shorter this time... Bought a 12rd promag drum. I would feel a lot better if it was a drum from MD but decided against 20. I'm putting an MD20 on my list for the future. Double stacks and, if Mike makes any, 12 round drums from MD are instant buys. I hope to hell I'm lucky on the Promag drum. It's not here yet, but when it is I'll take it to the range. Noted on not dropping it.
  13. I am making a large order for some high-cap mags and drums for my AR, AK, and S12. And some standard capacity mags too. They might only be talking about banning "high capacity" and "extended magazines," but they mean everything over 10rds. Best thing to do is to buy what's on your wish list now and support your favorite pro-gun groups and politicians. They are trying to reinstate some or all of the assault weapons ban again. This is BS. Nice that congress cares so much and is willing to go so far when one of their own are attacked. They sure didn't move after the Fort Hood shooting. Weak.
  14. I needed this info too. hahaha. I think the one in my AMD is f'ed too.
  15. Don't jump me for laziness but is the IZ-220 (saiga 308 with thumbhole stock and forward setup trigger) already in a setup for dropping in a G2 trigger assembly? Not everything is going smoothly on my S12 at the moment. 1 snag. Is this 308 saiga just like any AK internally? And are the internals easily switched out for US aftermarket ones?
