HOLY MOLY how can anybody survive that blast??? poor hostages. and the poster duuude >>> i cant believe the guy in charge of that whole fiasco got a freakin medal .... russian special forces are good but they are only good in military type of operations. where its shoot 1st then chk who survived later. police special forces shud have a very different mentality from that. and at least here in the good ol USA and western european countries they do. but for russians >>> they have a long way to go.

Not too difficult. I've done three now, and I'm pretty far from being mechanically inclined. The first one, I screwed up and broke the tap off. I managed to get it fixed, with some advice from some people on the forum. The 2nd and 3rd conversions were much easier, because I went slowly, used lots of cutting oil, frequently backed the tap out to clear off shards, and used a better tool (namely, the screwdriver handle tap wrench I got at Sears). You've already done one conversion; this will not be that difficult. On the other hand, if you have the money, I suggest just buying an SGL. Better

hmmm if i am not wrong ... it says "Special forces need you" or sometin like that .... my russian is not as good as it used to be anymore 8)

I am wondering now what kind of sustained fire the Saiga 308 is capable of. At what point does the handguard get too hot to handle, or begin to melt? (And how much does venting help?). Has anyone torture tested the thing? The more I think about it, the more it seem that the Saiga 308 would run a lot hotter than the intermediate caliber weapons. Even if it had an Ultimak, it might actually get too hot for the optic. Is the Saiga 308 capable of a sustained firefight without serious problems developing? sorry Jim i had to post this after readin ur post 8)

The barrel is noticeably thinner than the Saiga 308 barrel. Some people have called it a noodle. The handguard has very good venting, as you can see from the pictures below. It's obvious the designers had the heat problem in mind, but there was no real way to solve it except maybe thicken up the barrel (which would have made the gun even more front heavy that it already is). i posted this clip before but decided to repost it for those who didnt c 8) .... thats in regards to thinner barrel >>> watch the PSL barrel in slow mo

hey. after having fun with my Zastava PAP it is time for me to move onto my next AK variation. the cheapest alternative that i believe i can afford at this time is Saiga. Unless somebody can suggest me sometin else that NJ legal. NOW the question is >>> wat caliber shud i get? and i know its really the question of personal preference 8) For me its between 7.62X39 and .223 7.62X39 because i already have zastava PAP in the same caliber and i wud "save" on ammo .223 because its our local all around caliber. (i really cant use 5.56mm ammo with it thou, rite?) SO WAT DO U GUYS THINK

wow. this looks really kool. wonder if its NJ legal .... It does look cool, but after firing my 20 inch barreled M44, I don't think I would be happy with a barrel any shorter than that for a 7.62x54r rifle. The report would be overwhelmingly loud. LOL copy that. very true 8) wat year is ur M44?

By reputation the Saiga is more accurate than most any other stamped version. Of the milled variety it would still be better than some. The barrel on the Saiga is highly thought of being the reason many of us bought it. The specs on it being a bit tighter than most yielding improved accuracy yet not so that it makes the gun ammo picky. I know of only a couple of x39 AKs that can boast sub 2MOA on a good rifle and 3MOA on the average ones. The 308 with basically only a change in bore and bolt size can produce 1MOA with the more accurate 308 ammo over x39. However 4MOA is still not only good for

copy that bohound. thank u for the intel. i decided not to go with any recoil buffer. just doesnt seem worth it to me.
-
There's no doubt about that. They make it much easier to be accurate. But I see them as better for the type of shooting that I am much less likely to have to do away from the range (in "real life"), namely, long distance precision work. ok i c ur point ... but isnt that the same type of sights that all of our combat troops use?

this clip demonstrates the difference between "Romanian military designated marksman rifle" and "Dragunov's sniper rifle" (which is not really a true sniper rifle but thats a whole different argument 8) pay special attention to the PSL-54`s barrel... enjoy and yes, think of PSL as an AK with a longer barrel
