  1. And a .308 from 3' away? It would so knock you over. The energy of that bullet is much greater than a punch, and if I punched that dude while he was on one foot I think I'd tip him off balance. My .308 has never knocked me over, and I am 5'9" 195#. Ask Issac Newton. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. A bullet cannot hit downrange with more energy than it imparts to your shoulder. That is why no bullets will physically knock you down, and we don't have 40mm howitzers that are shoulder-fired. I have shot a few ballistic vests and seen a few demos live. I bel
  2. Hey, if we aren't allowed to speak of the NLFD, should we even think of seriously considering... BELTS? I fear for the kittens...
  3. Put me down for 2... if they are less than $20.00 and available in pink.
  4. The most common (almost universal) body armor is level II or IIa. That's what almost all street cops wear (many without a trauma plate). Getting hit with that level of armour without a trauma plate would be incapacitating, probably lethal. Level III and IV is bulky (unconcealable) and extremely expensive. Only SWAT or entry teams would have that level; you just wouldn't see crooks wearing it, maybe a well-funded terrorist type. BTW, in my neck of the woods, cops are trained that if center of mass shots don't drop your assailant, you shoot them in the face. There aren't many faces that ca
  5. I just heard from a very reliable source wearing a hat made of aluminmum foil, the 10-round mags are now stored at Area 51. Contact Elvis if you wish to place an order.
  6. TPABA: Unless I misunderstood, you are from Wisconsin... There is no limit on magazine capacity in Wisconsin, except for hunting migratory birds. So no need to go to confession...
  7. Its impatience, pure and simple. I know, because I'm impatient too! It would be nice to have an update... its quiet... TOO quiet. If they don't get me the mags soon, I'll kill this duck!
  8. In TPABA's state, there is no capacity limit for magazines for deer hunting. You could even leaglly hunt with a 20-round dru--- [NOTE: this reply has been discontinued due to the potential use of a forbidden term]
  9. And of course we all recognize that dropping the pipe-loving lowlife coming through the wire is quite sporting! A jolly good time! Bully!
  10. Freud belived that it was a deep seated psycholgical need in some people to speak of the drum mags. It stems from improper toilet training in childhood. If the kittens must die, so be it.
  11. There are plenty of states that do not have restrictions on magazine size for hunting. Wisconsin, for example, only has a restriction when hunting migratory birds. Sure, someone with a handful of 10rnd sticks is just as deadly as someone with a drum... But remember these decisions are not made on what will actually protect the public. The amount of crimes that are committed with "tactical" weapons is miniscule. Those that are, are generally scumbags taking out outher scumbags in gangs, organized crime, drug deals, etc. (I can see an upside to that!) The decisions to control, b
  12. Damn my luck! I had to get my Poly-choke on before you had this bout of genius! First, how about a Poly Choke / muzzle brake combo? I would think its just a matter of how the slots or holes are machined. And second, for either the Poly/hider or Poly/brake, can I just buy one, and screw it on in place of my current one?
  13. Let me add my "waah, waah, waah". I paid double what I should have to get a Saiga right away and have it tricked out the way I wanted; because I wanted the ultimate tac shottie. And today at work and at home my defensive shotgun is a Remington 870, because 1 5-round mag doesn't cut it firepower-wise. Its a shame. I'd commit an unnatural act to get a few 8 or 10 rounders, but I sure won't pay $150.00 for them. It would be nice to have a little reassurance about the 10 rounders. I still believe in Santa, leprachauns, and the tooth fairy, but I'm starting to wonder about the high-cap mags.
  14. Sorry, I should have been more specific. I have a standard S-12 'plastic' (I think phenolic is the proper term) forend, I am looking for a handguard to fit on top of the gas tube.
  15. I have the rear sight, vent rib and front sight I took off my Saiga 12. It is held on with a dovetail in back and the front sight adjustment in front. If that is what you are looking for, send me a PM and let me know where to send it to you.
  16. I want a "plastic" handguard for my S-12 (I have removed the factory sights and rail). Will an AK handguard fit? If not, does anyone offer a Saiga handguard? How do they attach? Thanks.
  17. Oh, yeah, I didn't notice that this thread started before the AWB sunset. (trained observer that I am...) Of course, if it is an evil import mag rather than a red-blooded patriotic mag molded on US soil, there could be 922 compliance issues depending on your configuration. Thank god we have wise wealthy attorneys to look out for our well being, and keep us from foreign parts and having carnal knowledge with chickens.
  18. I do not know of any federal regulation that limits the capacity of firearm magazines. Many states have regulations that do; and some munincipalities do. Here in WI, you can have any size magazine. The only way to know for sure is to search through the state and local laws where you live. You can do it on the internet, but in my experience it is really hard to navigate the websites to find specific laws. Your local library would have copies of your state statutes and local codes. Its also a good idea to know your state laws regarding self defense. You'll also learn a lot of strange lega
  19. Hey, as long as the crazy cats have guns, the good cats have to!
  20. Dammit! I am sarcastic, silly, longwinded, opinionated, and regularly go off topic; what do I have to do to get a warning?!
  21. I sure didn't mean to imply anyone wasn't a good parent or was a nutjob waiting to ice someone. Its just that with the kidding around about blasting bad guys, I just wanted to point out some folks do have a mistaken idea about self-defense. If you were in prison, your family would probably financially destitute, and the kids wouldn't have the benefit of growing up with dad's guidance. All I am saying is do what you have to do to protect the family AND avoid prison. And, keep in mind the best kids in the world are still kids, after all and will occassionally use bad judgement, show off, not
  22. Yup. It'll sound good at the coroner's inquest: "Mr. Saigaowner, if you felt justified in shooting Mr. Scumbag, why did you feel the need to alter the evidence prior to the police arrival?" "Ummm.... Ahhhh..." "Did you know it was a felony to alter evidence, and even if you beat the manslaughter rap and the wrongful death lawsuit, we still are going to make you a convicted felon for that, and you ain't gonna be allowed to touch a gun or a voting lever ever again?" "oohhh.... Ummm..." Better to take the tack: "I was scared for my life, and that of my family, so I blasted the MoFo!"
  23. Well, yeah, but since we live in the real world, I'd like to take the path of not only physical survival, but financial survival, emotional survival, moral survival; and if someone messes with my family I'd like to take 'em out and not do time. So I hope Griz is kidding about blasting the guy outside and making it look like self defense. I hope Indy is 100% sure the kids can't have an accident with guns laying around loaded. I don't think "what its all about" is vengence. I know if I were in prison it would screw up my family even if they were physically safe. I think its more about e
  24. --> QUOTE(G O B @ Feb 12 2006, 07:35 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Buckshot to the kneecap is the non lethal way to disable anything short of a PCP freak, and even they will be severly limited in mobility. G O B I would think buckshot to the kneecap is probably lethal anyway, it will just take about ten minutes for them to exsanguinate, during which time he can still pull a trigger. (or are you going to render aid once he's down?) Of course, if he lives that loser you kneecapped is going to sue you for pain & suffering, "lost wages" from the fact that he can no longer ply t
  25. Right now I have my Rem 870 with 3 rounds of #4 buck, then 2 rounds of 00 buck, followed by 2 slugs. My thinking is that when an altercation begins, one probably has little time or distance, so you want to go with the most hit probablilty, hence the #4 which has more pellets. If the fight continues, then one has the 00 and slugs as you can get to cover or concealment, and possibly have greater distance and time, or if you need the slugs, you can just jack out the other shells. This is what I have in the squad at work, and once I get some hi-cap mags for the Saiga, it will replace the 870,
