  1. I dunno leadslinger, I think you may have something there. Found a Maverick 88 for $150 and thought it would be worth while. The old lady is interested in the pump shot platform for home defence so this will be an inexpensive way to introduce her to it. She's only fired a pump shotty once in her life so hopefully the knoxx stock will aid in her becoming familiar with this weapon.
  2. Yeah, I must admit to being a total fanboy now. They just so happened to have a shotty with features I couldn't find anywhere else at a price that couldn't be passed up. It's so weird, they don't even advertise this model, it's not on their site.
  3. Neat design on the receiver. It's built on a model 37, so bottom ejector, kinda like it.
  4. Sent the Hogslayer back with a slightly canted rear sight and smiths at Ithaca came through. These people really stand behind their product! I was able to exchange my plastic furniture for wood (walnut) and have the rail installed (on top of fixing the rear sight) all for $65.00! Devirginized her with some Remington Premier Accutips which made an incredibly accurate combo with the slug gun but wow do those rounds kick. Kept a 2 1/2" group @ 50 yards. It's only got a 20" inch rifled barrel but I'd like to see what I can do @ 100 yards with some more practice. All in all I'm $515 into this one.
  5. Anybody know much about the Nikon slughunter? Looking at the 1.65-5x36 for my Ithaca hogslayer.
  6. AR pistols are a ton o' fun! You guys may have seen my RRA LAR-15 7.5" I posted on in the "other rifle" section. I really love taking it to indoor ranges and scaring the bejeezus out the people at the adjacent stalls !!! After about 3 rounds I turn my head a bit and typically see 3 or 4 people checking out the hardware. The report is AMAZING with those short barrels and the NATO rounds produce a nice fire ball as well as helping the action cycle due to higher chamber pressure. No matter which barrel length you decide to build with you'll love it!
  7. Kinda disappointing to not see Ithaca Model 37 in the list. I guess they did take a break for a while there and lost some name recognition. I recently purchased one of their slug guns (Hogslayer). Let me tell you that monster is rock solid and dead nuts accurate. It differs from the Deerslayer by having a shorter 20" rifled barrel and the capacity has been upped to 6+1, still with a 3" chamber. I plan on heading out with it to the lease for some of the large boars I'm hearing about in the area. I'm considering modding the Hogslayer to look similar to the Deerslayer by installing the woo
  8. Yeah, the pins. The rear pin is the pain in the ass. Once you get it drifted out (I employ a plastic chop stick for this) you just rock the upper forward and the front pin slides right out with little effort. I think the pistols have a standard 2 stage trigger, not sure if it's the RRA 2 stage set up. Trigger action is fairly crisp with just a hint of creep. That tight fit between the two receivers is on purpose. New generation Sun Devil lowers actually have a set screw to accomplish the same results. As far as I know, RRA only makes one two stage trigger. A lot of people talk shit abo
  9. I live in TX and have seen .308 DPMS carbines for $850, slightly loved of course but in excellent condition. The place I saw this deal at is called Independence Firearms. Unfortunately I don't think their website is up yet but here is the link if you want more info. Independence Firearms
  10. It is a pretty long buffer tube in comparison to other AR pistols, for me a major plus! 6.8? Whoa, well I've heard a saying round these parts "anyone worth shooting is worth setting on fire". :lolol:

  12. Got it slightly pre loved. By the looks of the feed ramps and chamber I don't even think it's had 500 rounds through it. Gotta post up solid with it due to it's sensitivity to "limp wristing". Found some light metal flakes while cleaning, does that mean it's still breaking in?
  13. Ok, am I trippin? It feels great in my hands and for havin 60 rounds of 5.56 near by in such a compact machine, thought I couldn't go wrong. Any one here familiar with RRA?
