  1. Hi I also have a Saiga12K and decided to buy the Chinese AK. I think you are looking at the same store where i bought my AK. Was not happy that the Czech AK is not compatible with typical AKs in terms of parts & accessories. Also I was able tp purchase 7-round mags for my Saiga 12K.

    Gas Port Adjustment

whatmanual Thanks again. Actually I think I forgot to clean the actual ports connecting the barrel and the gas tube. I do remember cleaning the piston area and hearing the clackty clank sound you mentioned when you move the shotgun up and down. I will try to revisit that gas port area and check. I use a dental pick to remove crud from the extractor of my pistols, so maybe that may be useful in the gas port area. BTW is it necessary to remove the whole gas tube. The construction of the Saiga with the open from of the gas tube is different from my AK which does not have an open gas

    Gas Port Adjustment

whatmanual Thanks for the advice. I don't usually see 3" magnum shells in our parts. I have for HD use copper plated 00 Buck and some Breneke slugs if necessary. My local range only allows #4 shot to preserve their backstop. There is an election on June so there is effectively a gun ban until July. Will wait till then to test my Saiga in the new "1" gas position setting. Shouldn't have a problem. I usually clean my firearms thoroughly after each range session, so their relatively clean. Probably just some light dust accumulation and nothing else.

    Gas Port Adjustment

whatmanual Thanks for the clarification. I screwed the the gas port all the way down and it stopped just past position 1. I opened it up a little and locked it at exactly 1. I had fired about 50 round in position 2 when it was new and I didn't know about the gas port thing. Lucky I was only using #4 birdshot at the time. Will inspect the trunnion to see if there are any issues. Thanks

    Gas Port Adjustment

Makc Thanks for the heads up. Would you know the direction of the turn when the setting is at 2? Is it clockwise when facing the gas port ? Thanks

    Gas Port Adjustment

Thanks for the info. Since I use 00 Buckshot and sometimes Slugs, the correct setting will be gas position 1. And if I ever use birdshot for practice, I should reset it to gas position 2.
  7. I noticed that the gas port on my Saiga 12K has the numbers 1 & 2 on them. How are they supposed to be set ? and for what loads ? Thanks
  8. I live here in the Philippines. A local gun dealer I know brought in some of the Saiga 12K's. Sold them here for about $800 each and spare magazines were about $100 each. I was on my way to buying a Benelli M1S90 when I heard about the Saiga. The Benelli would have cost me $1,600 but because of the high cost of spare magazines, the Saiga overall cost to me was almost as high. The front latch is for locking in place the buttstock once its folded.
  9. I have used pouches that were for AK47s and they seem useable. The ones I got have a string that lifts the magazine out of the pouch. Makes it easier to take out.
  10. I have a Saiga12K with the same folding stock as that, does that also have the safety built-in when the stock is folded? If not, do you know how to remove the safety in the folding stock
  11. Cobra In your experience will all 00 buckshot cycle reliably in setting #1. I will only use 00 buckshot and slugs on my 12K. Unfortunately I could not test that setting in my firing range because they only allow #4 birdshot to preserve the backstop. Thanks
  12. topmaul Would 00 buckshot be as reliable as slugs in setting #1?
  13. Just to clarify, I have seen buckshot & birdshot with the same brass height. If I only use 00 buckshot and brenneke slugs, does this mean it is safe to use setting #! to help reduce wear and tear, and still maintain reliability ? Thanks BTW I use a stock Saiga12K w/ an 18 inch barrel
  14. Sorry am new to shotguns, but what does high brass & low brass mean?
  15. In the Saiga12 gas port adjustment, #1 is magmun loads and #2 is for regular loads. Has anyone tried using setting #1 for 00 Buckshot & #4 birdshot? Does it affect reliability? Does it reduce recoil? Thanks
