  1. Too late for that, trigger guard is already in and done, magazines seat just fine. I have 40+ years of machinist experience from my dad to help when I decide to do projects the hard way.
  2. Are seriously the toughest things I have ever seen. I picked one up from K-Var for using on a 5.45 conversion where I decided to be picky and wanted one of the attached units like the real AK74's have. Well anyway, it came without the hole for the magazine latch pivot pin drilled. So, I lay out where the hole should be, and then proceed to dull three cobalt drill bits and a hardened center drill trying to dent the thing. Long story short is I had to heat it red hot to remove the temper, drill it, then re-temper the guard myself... Why do I always do this stuff to myself trying to be picky?
  3. Yeah, exactly. That's why I always use US made muzzle brakes if I'm using a muzzle brake. If no muzzle brake, then no worries about that. I just wanted to be sure to say that if you are adding a muzzle brake, make sure your parts count is good, or it's just easier to make sure you add a US made brake.
  4. That whole video is fearmongering. The guy claims to not know what cosmoline is... Either he's lying through his teeth trying to get uninformed buyers to believe him, or he really is dumb enough to have never seen cosmoline on a gun. I have swapped gas blocks on AK's three times, and never once had or heard of a problem with gas leaking. But that guy with an 800 dollar AK for sale sure has... It's advertising.
  5. On AK's the easiest parts for using combloc magazines are, as already mentioned: FCG (3 parts) Gas Piston Pistol Grip Muzzle Brake if applicable That's what I always prefer to use for compliance parts.
  6. Thanks for the answers guys. I've already got the Saiga gutted, and am waiting for parts to arrive. I'm already familiar with the AK so that's why I was asking because it seemed to me that I would need to change something for that to fit. It's going into a 5.45 Saiga so I don't think I'll need to remove the hump on the trigger, but we'll see when it gets here. Should be tomorrow.
  7. Hi all, I'm going to be converting my 5.45 Saiga when the parts arrive (scheduled for friday) and was wondering in advance if I will need to modify the hammer to retain the BHO feature? I'm thinking I might need to shave off some of the hammer to clear it on the right side where a standard AK hammer (G2 in my case) butts up against the receiver. Anyone know for sure? Thanks.
