  1. The Brown Bear does seem to be a good match for the Saiga.....Hell, goes bang every time, shoots accurately and is 1/3 the price of brass ammo what's not to like..? Is there anything to be gained "stepping up" a few cents per box for Silver Bear?
  2. I can tell from the look on my face, I'm trying to act like I'm listening...out of respect for an "older" generation...sometimes its best to eat it and shut up. Besides that was nothing compared to what I had to take after I started hurling Brown Bear fire balls and percussion down range.
  3. I know this is kind of off topic but it cracks me up....here's me with the Saiga(yes I am taking s**t from the old guy next to me about my gun) and here's a sample of what most guys were shooting hilarious
  4. For some reason...the match I showed up at wasn't quite what I thought it was....Go ahead put one in each bullseye of an A17 target at 100y with a 16" iron sight rifle, you've never shot before.... I did the match anyway, the rifle ran fine and most shots were on paper, the Brown Bear seemed consistent enough I have to take it for some real sighting on a proper target but I had a blast today
  5. I do not have the brass Port. ammo on hand yet and I'm going to a semi-auto rifle match this morning ...Yesterday I stopped by my local shop to get a few boxes of decent ammo too shoot today, but the boneheads totally screwed up, putting some other guys purchases on my debit card(luckily I caught it...) All this has tired up my funds until it all clears back, so I'm going to have to take my Brown Bear for the match.....Hell, sounds like it might not be a bad thing I'll report back.
  6. I recently replaced my rs with a Krebs 1000m peep. The rs spring is heavy and strong so watch your fingers, careful not to gouge the rifle. That said, the process is pretty simple and only takes a minute or two to complete.
  7. With the .308 mostly complete(except for the forend I'll have to add to keep in compliance once I get HiCap mags) I thought I'd put up some pics of the weapons I plan to use if any bad business ever comes down. -Saiga .308 battle rifle -Glock 30 .45ACP sidearm -Taurus PT709 Slim 9mm ccw
  8. I have(or will have) about 300 rounds on hand of decent Port. military brass ammo on hand for "real" use . For plinking and the range Brown and Silver Bear work fine and cost a hell of a lot less. If I ever do an Appleseed with the Saiga I'll go with Silver Bear.
  9. Here's the Arms of America link: http://www.armsofamerica.com/saiga/rifles.html
  10. I just got my .308 in today and I love it the way it is. The trigger position and pull are fine as they are. I wouldn't what to change the balance or handling. It is also my one and only so I will get minimum messing with. I did put on new sling studs today and mounted my 1" Alaskan Magnum sling, I'm buying a Krebs 1000m rear peep(form a forum member here) and a recoil pad for a little extra length of pull, that it...
  11. Great advice always appreciated, I'll scrap the skele stock idea and save the $80
  12. Hello, I have the Krebs 1000 meter sight on the Saiga 308s I own (all three). I called Krebs Custom to get advice on the correct model to order. They recommended the 1000 meter version. I have a Krebs 800 meter windage adjustable on my Bulgarian Arsenal SLR 95. If you crawl around on different boards, you may be able to find one of the Krebs Windage adjustable sights (they stopped making these a few years back). I have a Mojo sight on my Norinco SKS-M. You might want to consider that as well. They are windage adjustable if that is important to you. I hope this helps.
  13. I saw some pics of members .308s with the skeletonized pistol grip stock and a standard trigger. I'm wondering how this setup works/feels for people that use it. thanks here's the stock: http://www.saigastock.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=26&products_id=141
  14. Good deal for you. I was looking at a NIB .308 at a local shop the asking price was $699.00+tax....
  15. That's way too much for BB. Cheaper Than Dirt.com has it for 7/20, even with shipping you'll be cheaper. Eric I'll look into it. Tx for the heads up. yep $6.97/20 http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/AMM715-5.html and the Silver Bear at $7.29/20 http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/AMM692-5.html
