  1. Let's see... R&R is a forum sponsor. MGM targets is not, but I have met Travis Gibson, and know their products. (Sorry R&R, haven't been to a shoot you sponsor, yet!) Pricey. Like converted-for-full-race Tromix Saiga-12 pricey if you want a plate rack or a dueling tree. My regular shooting buddy made a few steel targets, and didn't use armor plate. Pistols will not put holes in 3/8 mild steel, but 55gr Armscor FMJ at ~3500fps (26.5gr of Varget and a 24" barrel) will blow big craters (nearly all the way through). If you get a crater, you have to scrap the plate, it's uns
  2. Awww, man, and here I thought that people had gotten fed up with the violence and vandalism caused by the OWS clowns and were giving them flying lessons...
  3. [Where the hell is the "green with envy" smilie?] Indy, if you ever want to reduce your number of safe queens, I will be happy to give one or two a nice home with heated storage, regular cleanings, and light use... And echomaker, nice save of a shotgun!
  4. Welcome to 2012, the Cold War is over. But it does look a little mall-ninja-ish. It was said that the thing on picture/video is a mock up though. Just going to have to wait and see what will happen with it. you're kidding me, my calender still says 1965, i call bullshit on you Playboy calendars don't count.
  5. Wonder how well they work when you blanket the freq their controller works on?
  6. 1000+ yards is a bit outside my abilities as a shooter, to be honest. But this guided round might finally give us a use for those exotic shotgun bore slug guns!
  7. Too bad it needs a smooth-bore barrel and is too long to be chambered in a conventional shotgun. Actually, one big-bore gun manufacturer (GIAT?) has made an APFSDS round for the 105mm gun that spins the sabot but not the dart, so you could see something like this in 25mm like the XM25.
  8. Ah. I'm so used to not having the +1 (waaaaaaay too many hours with a Beretta M9 strapped to my hip) that I don't even think about it. I should probably fix that!
  9. Early signs? Only thing missing (that's still in production) is a Delta Elite! Reminds me: does anyone know if a Delta Elite slide will fit on a Para P16 frame, and if 10mm will fit in P16 magazines?
  10. As it sits now, either you need to make the notch in back shallower by filing the top of the leaf, or make the front sight taller. I'd look for an adjustable front sight, but I like to do things the way that's least possible for me to screw up!
  11. Now, the funny thing is that an AR owner can buy a 10" barrel separate from the upper, and it's no tax stamp required. (for all the barrel maker/sell knows, it's going into an AR pistol). I don't see how this is different from pressing the barrel out of a Saiga, cutting 2" off the muzzle end, welding a brake or compensator on to get back over the 18" minimum length, and then pressing the barrel back in. Of course, since ATF measures from the closed bolt face to the muzzle, it's a bit tough to make sure you remain legal. The fact that you have to press the barrel out (which *will* pe
  12. That's not the impression I had from watching a video of the KSG versus a 3-gun auto versus the Saiga, but I am interested in the ability to switch from door-breachers to buckshot on the way through the door!
  13. Generally because they were more expensive to produce and the Russkies have millions of the old versions sitting in storage!
  14. Heh... After the anthrax scare in '01, we had to open all our mail outside the main office building in a shed. If you've ever had to deal with government security tape, you know what a pain that stuff is to deal with, and we got dozens of letter and boxes sealed with that stuff every week. I finally gave up and brought my old 'letter opener' into the office (inside a US Navy building!): a bayonet from a Swedish Mauser. I was only asked about it once, said it was my security letter opener.
  15. Yeah, that's what I did when I had the Subaru wagon. unloaded in the case, with the cargo-cover pulled over the top. Got stopped once like that, told the officer I was going to the shooting range and had firearms in the back. No issues, but that was in Idaho.
  16. Ah, didn't realize the wood was that screwed up. still seems like a shame to cover up nice wood, but nasty wood is a different story.
  17. That's my understanding, that firearms belong to the trust, but I am not a lawyer. I only know enough legalese to know when to go find a lawyer, and ask them the right questions. If the trust is set up to dissolve after your death, then someone would need to pay the transfer fees when they took custody of the NFA items. But if the trust doesn't dissolve at your death, then no-one would have to pay transfers because the NFA items are still property of the trust. It depends on the nature of the trust.
  18. It's a Glock, why aren't you carrying it with one in the chamber (ie, loading with the slide locked back)?
  19. According to the BBC report, they HALO'd in about a mile away, drew some fire on the way in and fragged some Tangos... excuse me, pirates, and rescued the two people. SEAL Teams are large groups of people, close to 200 men.
  20. The big one is multiple people being able to legally access the NFA items without you being there to oversee their use. A secondary one is that the Trust will spell out how the NFA items are supposed to be 'disposed of' (ie, who gets what) in the event of your death.
  21. I'm reminded of the old 'hipster' 20gauge shotguns. They were (and are, IIRC) one of the *very* rare shotgun pistols. Grandfathered into the NFA, iirc. Basically designed to sit inside the door of your car for when someone got stupid and wanted to 'borrow' it at gunpoint, they came with a car-door holster and a personal-wear holster. But please, that shotgun has nice wood. Refinish the wood if necessary, paint the metal, not the wood!
  22. The two positions I like for a Hilift jack are either on the outside-spare tire rack or on the roof rack. The spare-tire mount is a little more back-friendly, but it's more obvious.
