  1. yeh beleive it or not, they will not sell to fellow nyers. I do see the wieger mags at the local shows but they are selling for $50 each here. if the galil mags are my best option to work with the bullet guide installed I will take a trip to PA soon and grab a few. thanks for the help, it's tough living here...but my wifes roots run deep.
  2. hello all, been awhile for me . anyway I am going to do a conversion on my newly aq. .223 saiga. I am going to add the bullet guide from dinzag(I have done several 7.62x39s) my issue lies with 30 round mags. here in ny we are only allowed pre 1994 30 rounders. I know the Galil orlites are preban but no one sells them here and no one will ship them here either. I have several bulgarian 74 mags and was hoping to modify them, is there anyone still making/selling a .223 follower? I have read the follower mod thread, but I could just buy some it would be easier....also I have read of guys sandi
  3. from my experience and what I have read...the brass is softer,it expands then contracts rather easily. The "steel" actually bi-metal cases expand but don't contract as easily which usually results in broken cases or stuck cases. just my 2 cents.
  4. to use the 30's you must modify your saiga...which includes making it 922r compliant. I am in NY and use 30's in my converted Saiga's. if your worried about proving the mag was made before sept 1994..use chinese 30's they were banned from import in may of 1994. (yes I know they are coming back in as Chugo's) they are what they are. local shows around WNY I have seen boxes of 30rnd AK mags for between $10 and $15 each.
  5. also...FYI threaded muzzles mean nothing under the NYS AWB. they don't pertain to shotguns. shotguns are not allowed two "evil" features like the semi-auto rifle...the detachable mag being one,you can convert and use a thumbhole
  6. basically everything was covered in above posts... FSB flush with the muzzle....make sure it's straight...I use a 3mm bit to drill the FSB pins. if your sight did not come with pins I may a few. My install also had a bit if un finished barrel showing behind the FSB...this was OK as I was dura coating the entire gun anyway. I bet yopu coulkd just airbrush the FSB area and not have to do the whole thing.
  7. this is true of my march 09 also....
  8. anyone have any pics or links to pics of a semi Russian saiga 7.62 bolt carrier, charging handle side.? just trying to figure something out...thanks
  9. Not to stir up a pot, are saiga's imported with the FA carrier? just something I noticed while looking at a few different year saiga's my friends own compared to mine. I know that most imported Rifles from MAK90's,Romy's,maadi's to Bulgarian rifles have been milled to semi carriers.
  10. great communication smooth transaction
  11. I am going to buy and convert a saiga.223 within the next two weeks. I have been buying parts I'll need, but don't know which direction to go. I will do a complete conversion like my 7.62...but really want a .223 tactical AK that I can put up against my friends AR's. this will mean rails, optics, vert forgrip, and probably the MSA adapter. how about some Idea's to make this build/conversion a one of a kind. keep in mind that I live in NY...No SBR's, folding stocks, and NO "evil" flash hiders . I am going to use a Vltor tube and magpul stock pinned in a comfy position. I want to keep it s
  12. I bought the HG retainer, gas tube, GB and FSB as a package deal from theakforum...I got all three when the market was plentiful, $75 shipped.
  13. my promag 10 rnders needed some "help" to get them functioning properly. there is some info I used (can't remember exactly which forum) thanks to the input of others here they work like a charm now.
  14. this is one of my favorite 7.62x39 guns that I own...the 74 brake keeps the muzzle down range for quick follow up shots. I shot a 6.5" 5 shot group @100yards off hand last week at the range using wolf classic FMJ . I am sporting a Kobra on it now, but it is sighted in for 25m.
  15. so basically I went from this... to this...
