  1. gun will work just fine. I cut down my arsenal side folder to be 16.25 oa and it is 100% with all ammo tried.
  2. $515? for a saiga? last last purchase was an arsenal folding stock that I got lucky for $715 about a month ago. $399 a deal, $500 not so much
  3. I've done 8 conversions at this point and 3 I cut the barrel shorter so the overall is 16.25" 1 I did I used the Krebs gas block/sight, threaded the barrel and done. another I bored out the old 74 fsb and moved it back so the 74 flash hider was 16/25" blind pinned and welded over. other I used a 47 fsb bored, pressed and pinned. threaded and welded brake. next one will be with a hk cut sight and welded. the hard part will be moving the gas block side to side so the impact will be matching the sight. I have found the fsb isn't the only thing that isn't perfect on ak's.
  4. Heard from my friend/dealer that CAI will be bumpin up all ak prducts big time...like dealer cost of $1k for wasr's kinda bump. I have two friends that will be at SHOT tomorrow and sure some interesting stuff will come out of tht.
  5. I cheap tapco. i wanted the lightest possible.
  6. what break or flash do you have on? my 74 break keeps the barrel flat.
  7. holes? if you are meaning the pin holes, there are none machined in the krebs. There two recess spots that you would if you want tp drill and pin. I just pressed it on cleaned and fluxed and silver soldered it through the through hole on the bottom. I ordered another two just in case they are around again. Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  8. i put a krebs on my 5.45 and it went on fine. just mark the hole on the underside of your old block since that is the through hole where the gas port is. makes it easy to know where to stop on the new one.
  9. come on out to stroudsburg, pa, just across the river from nj and i'll show you how it's done. I've got 6 conversions done at this point and they are very easy to do. buy lunch and we'll be gtg.
  10. well we see this coming so we all stocked up right?
  11. i don;t take paypal either lol
  12. i don't think i would want a hole that size in the end of the barrel. not sure what it will do but can't be good. i would cut the barrel shorter, past the hole, thread and silver solver the 74 break on.
  13. the gas block was for cool factor only, really doesn't do anything better bigger or faster. just wanted to do one with it. the left side is really the best thing next to the tech-sights that i have done. the handle just works and is the right place for it. everyone who has tried it likes it. i may even cut and grind clean the stock handle.
  14. I have three saiga 5.45's and would like to get some spare parts,,,firing pins and whatever usually breaks or may fail. any idea who stocks them and what do ya thing i should have as spares. thx
  15. i just tig welded an 11-87 combat handle on the left side of the bolt. love it! may cut off the right side even, didn't use it one on the first range trip.
  16. look at the tech-sights. i have installed them on all my ak's. makes it a different rifle! Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  17. Ive been waiting.....and waiting......and waiting for Krebs to finally ship their lastest gas block/sight and last week it finally came in. startest as the $289 classic saiga that was sale awhile back. gas block pressed on and silver soldered. I welded up the extra holes and filled the checker board for the the raa on right side. threaded barrel 14x1L and installed a lock nut and the smallest brake i could find...a tapco. tech-sights (friggin love these things!) 1187 combat charging handle welded to bolt and new top cover cut. the grip/stock from the guy selling these on the board. the r
  18. here are some pics of the welded holes, filled in importer, old machined block and "made in russia" i think it looks much better without the mount. sprayed a 2k primer, wet sanded with 600 and will be painted aug green once krebs block comes Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  19. i just used my mig to weld up the holes. i was a little worried but it went pretty easy. i dunked the receiver in a bucket between holes. i didn't use any backing and don't remember what wire is in the miller.
  20. well i drilled out the front and middle rivets, drilled partway the rear one. welded up all the holes so i won't be needing any plastic plugs. i hit it quick and washed with water between holes so need to put any more heat intoi the receiver than needed. the trunion , i left the rivet sticking proud and welded around it and ground all the welds flush. went quick, just have to get a abre metal filler, fill and sand. prime and wait till the krebs is in and installed for the final duracaot finish to be sprayed. more work but i'm happy with it so far.
  21. i removed my fsb as well. i'm going to use a krebs gas block sight combo. i just jb weled the holes and scratches and sanded smooth. i'll be painting the whole gun anyway so it was th easiest way to go.
  22. nope. taking off the fsb and just putting on the smallest tapco brake and installing the krebs gas block sight combo. taking weight off the front.
