So I went to the FT. Lauderdale Gun Show yesterday and was shocked by the prices for SAIGA 12's. First there wasn't one new "unconverted" SAIGA to be found in the entire show. There were 2 NIB converted units that were going for $1200 and $1400 respectively. These were very basic conversions using hogue pistol grips, kvar nato stocks and tapco FCG. Every dealer I asked told me when they get them in, the price will be at least $800 for the standard 19" barrel unit. There was also a "Tromix" SBR unit that they wanted 4k for...I don't know enough about these to know if it was real or fake, b

Range report after conversion - she runs well, as long as I dont use my 10rd Promag stick...for some reason she doesn't like this magazine. With the MD arms drums and factory magazine, she runs like a scalded ape... Just need to hurry up and find a nice fore end and some kind of grip...to be more comfortable.

Rubber Mallet? Check! Dremel? Check! I ground some reliefs then with a series of love taps she went right on and was very snug.

I finally found the time to pin my brother down to help me with the conversion...lol Still have a few things that I want to add, but I just can't decide which ones I want...like a rail, not sure I need anything too fancy as I only need a place for a flashlight/green laser combo. Also thinking about some kind of fore-grip, but again, not sure which one I want/need... Thinking about a nice breacher/flash suppressor, extended magazine release and red dot sight (already have the UTG side mount low profile rail with quick release). If the purpose is for SHTF (among other things), don't bother with any optic that probably won't even hold up through a single carbine course, much less worse conditions. That includes pretty much anything you could get for $100 or so. Better to stick with irons only than to add a crappy optic, in my view. Save up, and look for a deal on something good. Good point..ok, so what is a good iron sight setup that doesn't require welding???

Glad to see this new section...I too am looking for more info on this topic. I have the UTG side mount for my S12 and would like to add some type of "red dot" optic for quick acquisition at the range and if SHTF. I would like to stay around $100 plus or minus $20... Anyone have experience with these devices?

Is it me or are some of the sellers at Gun Shows just plain crazy? This past weekend I went to the Miami Gun Show and there were a few standouts that I just can't stop thinking about - Tromix SBS - $3,600 A couple of PARA Warthawgs 3" barrel - $850 a piece for pitted junk buckets from a pawn shop A few used S12's - $850 - non converted... Used Glocks - $600 I just don't get it, do people actually these prices or anything close to the asking price? Why would a dealer price something so high just to take it home at the end of the show? Isn't the idea to sell as much as possib

I cant lean it against the wall because I have a dog and he is curious and has already knocked it down a few times when I tried this in the past. As for my request not making sense...let me clarify. I don't want to lock it when I am home or sleeping. I want to be able to lock it if I have company over (curious kids?)sorry if I wasn't clear in my original post... I keep it locked up and out of the way when I am not home, so I am just looking for something that gives me options when I am home. Before I get flamed, I used search and nothing came up... I would like to keep my SAIGA close when I am sleeping or at home (but I want it out of sight for others), there is a wall behind my bedroom door that would conceal the gun when the door is open. My issue is I cannot find anything on the market that would hold the gun securely in place and is also lockable (padlock, combo, whatever). Any ideas? What do others here use? Do I need to make it myself? Thanks...

I searched and couldn't find anything...can someone tell me how much shorter "if any" the kvar warsaw stock is vs the factory stock? Also, is it direct bolt on and compatible with a pistol grip?

Got my MD20 and vplug today...thanks for the quick shipping!!! I am a tool and didnt watch your video on fitting the md20..would have saved me alot of cursing..lol but I think I got it to fit now...makes a nice click when I insert it now. The vplug was very simple to install, but I have a question. I screwed mine in until it bottomed out past the minus sign then I backed it out until it clicked. Is this the correct way to install?

I'm more into "comfort than speed"...the saw grip feels like crap to me...do you have any recommendations for better grips?

Hi all, I am getting ready to do my conversion "finally", but I have a doubt. I purchased the saw grip because it looked nice and seemed to be one of the popular pieces, but after I got it I was not happy with the feel in my hand or the finish of the actual piece. So I was looking online and found this grip on CSS site - GRIP AK/SAIGA TEXTURED RUBBER FINGER GROOVE SKU: GRIP-AG47 http://store.carolinashooterssupply.com/servlet/-strse-144/CAA-AK47-SAIGA-TACTICAL/Detail Will this grip work with my TROMIX DIY trigger guard and new fcg? Gotta be honest, I am less than impressed with the initial feel of the SAW grip and the Tapco folder...they feel very "air-softish..", I guess I am spoiled by my knoxx spec ops pistol grip and stock on my 870... Oh well, I guess I can just swap them out later as funds permit...
