Sooo... can i take a deer?

I've taken a handful of whitetail in MD with my 16 inch Saiga. Mostly head shots but a few behind shoulder. I use the remington corelokt 55 grain bullets. I also took a 150 lb black bear 2 years ago with my saiga. That was a head shot at about 60 yards. Got a beautiful 5 1/2 foot rug. The bullets tend to explode inside the deer on rib cage shots. I havent shot one over 150 yards and I would not. The deer I have taken have dropped. Just be sure you take a good ethical shot and use good bullets and you will be fine. Good luck!

    Best Factory Ammo Accuracy?

Just curious to see what everyone is having the best accuracy with? I've shot tula 55 grain, wolf 55, herters 62 grain hp, remington 55 grain sp, federal 62 grain fusion sp, federal 60 partition sp, remington umc 55 grain fmj and umc 50 grain hp.......... and out of all above the most accurate factory round out of my 16 inch saiga .223 is the remington UMC 50 grain HP. Just wondering if anyone has anything else FACTORY that shoots more accurate than others out of there SAIGA??
  6. I definitely have better accuracy with hollow points out of my 223 saiga.

    Tapco Trigger bump fire

Interesting. My TAPCO did the same thing once. I was doing the same thing. Shooting from sand bags at a 200 yard target using a very slow trigger pull and I got a double bang. It happened so quick I wasnt really sure it happened? I asked my buddy and he thought the same thing. He wasnt really sure but he thought thats what he heard. I havent tried it again to see if it would do it. Ive put probally 500 rounds through this trigger and it has not done it again. Next time I'm shooting I will use a very slow pull and see if it fire 2.
  8. Well I have decided to go ahead with my saiga 223 conversion. I'm looking at the conversion kit available through CSS for 119 bucks with the modified G2 FCG, retaining plate, Tapco stock and PG. I've done some research on this site and hear good things about CSS but just wanted to be sure this is a good buy? Or should I try to buty parts individually? I plan on using surefire mags once the conversion is complete so I'm not looking at bullet guides.......yet. So any advice would be great. Also angled trigger guard or rounded?? Whats your preference? Thanks for the advice.

  10. Here's what I would like to do. Take out my stock trigger assembly and polish it. My question is after I drill out the 2 pins holding the assembly in place what do I use to replace the pins? I can't find any info on this. I do not want to move the trigger forward and do the pistol grip yet. I just want to polish the trigger and leave it where it is. Where can I find replacement pins after I remove the factory pins? Thanks

    New to site. Trigger question?

Yes I'm talking about the factory trigger. I read a few posts mentioning polishing the assembly. I'm assuming this is the factory assembly.
  14. Just bought a saiga .223 16 inch barrel a week ago. Love the gun. I've got it sightened in for now but will be fine tuning. My groups are pretty good. I'm still trying different ammo to find a good group. Anyway my question is about polishing the trigger/hammer assembly? I did some searches but did'nt find a whole lot. Was wondering if anyone has detailed instructions on this. I have a dremel and feel comfortable with the work. I just was looking for some more details. The trigger pull is a bit tight. Would the polishing soften it up much? Thanks.
