Thanks Selph. I have the new brass "pin" in place and all seems well. Carolina Shooters will be getting some OEM (I think) pins in soon.

I lost a mag latch pin on my Saiga-12 -- replaced it with a piece of screwdriver shank but the diameter was a tad too small -- and then found a barely oversize brass screw that I thought might work. It did -- after I reduced the head diameter and force screwed it (i.e. pushed real hard) through the bracket hole, latch hole, spring and then the opposite side holes for a nice tight fit. The screw is now more of a pin given the mashing of the tiny threads. I'm sure that if I keep taking out* the new "screw/pin", it will loosen up, but for now it's tighter than the OEM pin. Another newbie here. This may be dumb, but I looked at the manual and it says Use position "1" for 12/76 shells, amd position "2" in all other cases. Isn't the 12/76 shell our 3 inch shell? If so, are all 2 & 3/4" shells safe using the "2" position? My "low recoil" Hornady Buck (red) shells, and Federal 2 & 3/4" Magnum 00 Buck shells both functioned perfectly (after grinding and polishing a feed ramp)-- but am I going to damage my factory 19" barreled gun. Note I'm not using any brake or flash suppressor -- yet.

The cut-to-size, old screw driver shank is as close as I could come to the right diameter "pin" with parts on hand to the "right size nail". I still need to look through all my misc drawyers. BUT, shouldn't you be able to buy a couple spares for a few cents?

Thanks for the suggestion. That's a neat part, but I only need the pin. Maybe 2 or 3! There are so many ways to upgrade this gun that I need to prioritize $$$ wise.

THANKS!! Off topic? But you seem like you'd know. Where can I find a Magazine release pin? Great post.

Just a newbie here so please excuse any lack of Saiga sense. I puchased a Saiga-12 a few weeks back and have done the most important (to me at this point) mods AND WOW, what a weapon! Right out of the box, the 1st factory mag of 2-3/4" inch shells was flawless. However the Surefire, Promag and MD Arms drum wouldn't feed worth crap! Every shell caught on the bottom of the barrel, the part (stubs) that juts out into the top of the mag well. I saw a thread on grinding and polishing a feed ramp. I followed the fantastic photo enriched instructions and now everything seems to feed - incl
