  1. Been a while since I was last here. Couldn't get the parts I wanted for my Russian AK thanks to ITAR. Go figure Had to "make do"
  2. The Saiga M3, EXP 01 Basically the Saiga in AK-103 setup but from the factory. What you guys would consider "converted". Nah, perfectly happy at the end, just trying to be cleaverer than I am. IDPA limits on capacity are 10+1 for the first pistol magazine. I'd shot ~7 rounds before the second popper which hid the threat behind a non threat, so to be cleaver I changed mags to make sure I didn't run dry on the threat and miss it. But I had a failure to fire. (Not a fail to feed from the new magazine, I have the ejected round here, the primer was struck nice and hard with no ignition ) and I
  3. Both the Gopro and the M3 were presents from my wife I used the wrong FOV on the GoPro, but this is the first time I've tried it. I'll be adjusting that for the next time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPDvZ_f9q_4&feature=player_embedded
  4. Parts are kinda hard to get hold of here so you've got to make do with what you can get. ATI railed handguard and pistol grip Midwest Industries rear sight H1 mount Aimpoint 4 MOA H1 Krebbs safety selector Viking Tactics mount for the Surefire E2D LED. KBK
  5. as stated. the optic was not included. Oh I thought you meant you added it after the rifle was given to you. I didn't realise the topic was about that rifle, without the scope.
  6. That optic is WAY too high for that stock. If you could get a low mount Aimpoint or a low mount RMR you may be able to do that, but not as it stands. I vote for wood to save that travesty. KBK
  7. Up didn't work, down didn't work. Trying to wiggle things in and out didn't work. Taking it to a smith to get the trigger group removed and it all put back together worked. I would have done it myself, but 1) I could not be assed, 2) it is dangerous to let me put things together. It wasn't a Krebbs IV-s, but that's because our choices here in the boondocks aren't very good. Still, what's one more scratch on an AK? KBK
  8. Drat, I was hoping to avoid that. Was hoping there was a trick I was missing. I can take two pieces of Lego apart and when I put them back together I'll have parts left over. I do not enjoy working on guns. KBK
  9. Yeah it makes sense, and is exactly what I tried. I can't lift the lever above "safe" or above the top of the receiver. It hits the trigger, or part of it before that happens. I've tried everything short of removing the trigger unit, as I was hoping to do it without messing around with springs. KBK
  10. I've bought a Krebbs finger shelf safety I want to install, but I can't figure out how to remove the safety on the Saiga. It is already in the M3 (AK-103 style) setup. But I can't raise the safety with the trigger in place. Do I have to remove the trigger assembly to remove the safety? KBK
  11. Does anyone know the weight of the ATI hand guard off hand? I recently installed just the lower portion, with one rail section and a E2D LED in a Viking Tactics mount, and it seems as if the front end is MUCH heavier than it was without the light/handguard. I do realise a lot of it is the leverage of how far forwards it all is, but it seems very heavy now. Shooting it tomorrow so when I strip it down to clean it I'll weigh it, but I was just wondering is anyone knew. KBK
  12. Yeah thanks. Stubborn it was. Lackey Imperialist Westerner not strong enough to work good Russian equipment! It's all working now. KBK
  13. Actually no, I got that bit off, and yeah it was harder than any other AK I've used, but it is the bottom hand guard I'm trying to remove. My Saiga came in AK-103 setup so I have an AK handguard, not a Saiga hunting rifle handguard. KBK
  14. work like a normal AK's? I've rotated the lever, but I can't get it to budge. Am I not using enough force or am I missing something? KBK
