Schultze, they caught me trying to break out, but released me as an award for creativity in my escape attempt.

  3. K, seriously, how are you supposed to attach the IIFS buttpack to the D-rings on the back of the ELBV?

Nah, I'll mess around with it later, not concerned with it right now. I was just ranting.

  4. There's a girl @ my local grocery store that looks exactly like Kari Byron off of Myth Busters!!! I'm afraid I'm going to have to come out of my shyness, with some SAIGA 12 confidence (if you will) & chat this bird up! 8)

You should go for it, but please leave the Saiga at home. :P

This webbing arrangement makes zero sense. The only conclusion I can come to is that you aren't supposed to attache it to the vest, so I'm not going to.

Oh, I'm fine. I'm just trying to decide whether or not it's worth the effort to try to keep someone who was a friend long, long ago still a friend. Does that make sense?

Just being reminded a lot lately that a large part of my reason behind owning guns is that the majority of other gun owners and their theocratic convictions scare the hell out of me.

Problem is that mine is one of those "rare but serious" drug side-effects. I have to stop taking the antibiotics I need because I have a tendon about to rupture behind my left eyeball.

Yeah I've been on kind of an Eastwood kick lately. That and Michael Douglas, for some reason. Watched Wall Street the other night, and War of the Roses a couple weeks ago.

Stupid comment length limit. AIWS: DDs and AOWs are okay though, so I'm thinking a 14" M870 AOW and a Penn Arms PGL-65 are on the list of things to get.

DSA sells them as title-1 pistols, no buttstock, but they do have the mounting bracket molded directly into the frame. If you reg it as an SBR, DSA will sell you the buttstock too. As a folding-stock subgun I like it a lot, but as just a pistol it has absolutely no benefit over a Glock 17. Also I've tried the single-point sling brace with other similar platforms (M11/9), and it just doesn't do it for me.

Tried it, it just doesn't work with my learning style. Autodidactism is the only way I can do things; four years of math class couldn't teach me trig but later on I figured it out on my own.

There are of course exceptions to every rule. I have seen ARs in every price range that patterned like shotguns, and AKs that were sworn *at* more than they were sworn *by*.

There are cheap ARs that aren't accurate and there are cheap AKs that aren't reliable, but it's not the general rule. I know people who swear on the accuracy of their Vulcan and Olympic ARs but I would NEVER trust my life to one in combat. Conversely, I would never expect to win a high-power match with a WASR, but I know I can plow fields with it all day and it will still work.

1-2 minutes is plenty for me as well. There's no real reason to require an intermediate combat rifle to do better than 1 minute even with optics. The only reason I prefer the AR is the Evil E-word: ergonomics. I have no problems using an AK, but I prefer the fit and feel and manual-of-operation of the AR better, even in spite of the awkward charging handle location.

As to cheap weapons, what I was saying was a generalization. There are cheap ARs that aren't accurate, an...

:P I know, but one would not generally describe upholding the AR-15 in an AK-centric forum as a necessarily smart move. Like being Jewish in Iran. I'm not really that worried though, just kind of amused...
