  1. Why settle for a wimp like the x39 when the 7.62 Nato is available. I've got a Saiga chambered in 7.62 Nato and a bunch of 20 round mags. Turns cover into concealment. No comparison to range and power plus all the surplus ammo floating around.
  2. I've got two 308s a Savage bolt gun w/24" barrel and a 16" Saiga. The Savage has a 24X scope on it and the Saiga has an 8X42 POSP. The 16" Saiga outshoots the Savage at all ranges beyond 200 yards using 1968 Lake City Match ammo. The Savage kicks harder but has a nicer trigger.
  3. Saiga sleeps in the safe, mag out action closed safe locked, Anyone who breaks in after climbing the mile up the mountain from the road and getting past my dobies without setting off my perimeter alarms isn't going to be effected by a shotgun. My bedside table has a 240 lumen small light and a Glock 20 with sixteen rounds of 200gr hollow points coming out at around 1240 fps. I shoot through walls and have no neighbors.
  4. Interesting thread like so many before it regarding the "difference" between 7.62X51 and 308 Win. In fact, there really is no difference. Mil spec pressure is 50,000 CUP (Copper Units of Pressure) Civilian spec is 62,000 PSI (pounds per square inch) Now if you fire a 308 Win. in a copper crusher test gun it will show the same 50,000 cup even though it shows 62,000 in PSI on transducer equipment. Y'all are using different yardsticks to measure the same thing. Like a guy jumping up trying to hook a tape measure on the top of a board his buddy is holding up. I ask him why not lay the board
  5. My old 16" EAA Saiga 308 outshoots my new Savage target rifle. As long as I do my part. I use an 8X40 POSP scope and use a heavy bench rest at our club range.
  6. Oh yeah? and what exactly would you do about it? You can not get organized, and even if you could this Gov will over power you in an instance.... They have tanks, choppers, jets and they are all fully loaded, what do you have, your Saiga 308? LOL.... BTW, according to the Constitution (2nd amendment) you must be a "ORGANIZED MILITIA" so since you can not get organized you are considered terrorists and will be treated as such.... "Why would you say that" - Because it is the truth....... and attitudes like yours just make it possible for us to lose our rights under the Constituti
  7. Brownells sells a very nice three piece set of "starter punches". They are short (1/2") hardened steel tips in round knurled holders made to start pins out of tight places like our Saiga gas blocks. I moved my gas block enough to send the tube to be reworked at Brians business "Dinzag Arms". When the parts came in I started fitting the upper and lower handguards and thought to myself "gee Brian, you made these too short". I had forgotten to drive the gas block back where it belonged. After driving it back with my dead blow hammer I learned it had twisted a bit. What a pain in the a&&
