  1. Only the bottom will go on, this is really for an AK not a Saiga and mine did not like the clamp for the front on secure it to the barrel. Leapers and Tapco have advertized front guardes for Saigas but no one has them in stock, Brigade says they will have the Tapco at the end of the month. I.m going to order one and just wait.
  2. $175 last year, 20.5 inch barrel added 8-24X,AO scope and check rest. Used dremel tool to modify AK mags to match narrower mag front catch of the Saiga magazine. Works fine. Tack driver at 110 yards. Arsenal AK prints various ammo two inches apart vertical (16 barrel) but with extra 4 inches of then Sagia the zero is the same. Suprised me, but said something about the burn rate of the ammo. By the way, Wolf 154 SP is boattail ( box does not say so) even though it's a bit slower FSP. Other wolf is flat base and the 154 is more accurate.
  3. If he gets the image and part number with the correct mag. I will order one. I've got over 2,000 rounds thru mine and every thing is still working and dead on. Have some barrel rise after round 3 from left to right diagonial, about two inches at 110 yards. Mine has the blonde wood stocks and the front is loose/floats. http://www.clearviewinvest.com/default.asp for scope mount, no shimming.

  6. Clip on bipod is just for the picture. Just tore down after six months of shooting. Normaly just clean barrel and hose exposed action with cleaner. Never had a jam or any type of malfunction. Scope is 6.5X20 and mount is rock solid. Only mod is a Buffer Tech recoil absorber. Big help and saves metal to metal wear which was evident before I added it. Saw lots of wear inside today as I was cleaning but expect no problems. It has a 3 inch diagional heat change zero, left to upper right with the first 3 rounds, then as long as it's hot holds less than 1.5 inch at 100 yards. I shoot almost every we
  7. BALA is for Ball ammo, NATO Ball. Got me a NEW Springfield Armory M1 Garand, 30-06. Shooting 1.5 inch. groups at 100 yrds with open sights using 70s Korean surplus. Then pull out Saiga and shoot with the 20X scope and Hirtenbergr .308 I delink from a machine gun belt just to mess with their minds. Have had more feed problems with the Garand (8-10) in 2 weeks, than I have had with the Saiga in 7 months.
  8. I got a 308 but in my SKS's there is only one ammo that is dead on. It is chinnese steel core, steel jacket. I have only seen it sold in loaded SKS stripper clips for $1.25 to $2.50. The last I bought was 16 clips at $1.25 so that's 12.5 cents a round. It is banned fron import and no one seams to reailize it is a heaver bullet and a boat-tail from the way the jacket is wrapped at the tail. Sunday at the range a guy set up a chronograph and I gave him 2 rounds to fire thru his SKS. He had 3 different loads he had handloaded from 1975 to the hottest of 2400 fps. The chinnese both were over 2500
  9. It is a Barska, Chinnese who also make several "brand names", Simmons, BSA etc. I have seen the same scope as a Winchester. This one was at Sportsmanguide.com, he had his "Guide Gear" name put on it. It is easy to spot by any name because it is an Odd 6.5X20X50. I studied and got it over a Redfield. I shoot at 117 yards, put a piece of brown shipping paper up, turn the scope to 20, shoot a hole in the paper and then shoot at the hole. Have had it on and off several times for cleaning the Saiga and it has seen 700+ recoils, no problems. Paid $69 plus 10 for shipping.
  10. forget 308 and find some of the Aussie 7.62, or Spainish. Stick with 7.52 NATO, there is a difference. I got a thousand of Hirtenbirger Austrian by UPS today. Rare find. Check out cheaperthandirt.com and sportsmanguide.com, you will not find any better source for ammo.
  11. Spent 5 hours at range today,117 yrds. Saiga results: My standard chinese steel- zeroed, Indian NATO good at same zero, South African NATO good at same zero, Aussie NATO a little better, Spainish NATO very, very good, will order more, Barnaul Silver Bear .308 3 inches low and all over, supprised and will order no more.
  12. New guy here. Got my 308 in June and have 7-800 rounds through it . Have shot Aussie-good groups, South African- good also, Hurtenburger-fantastic, but most with Chinnese steel core/steel jacket BT(120for$35) and it shoots real good and clean. Got some Indian NATO, Spanish NATO and Russian Barnaul 308 dropped on the doorstep today. I'll try them this weekend. My SKS really likes the Barnaul Silver Bear and I've been waiting to find it in 308 and have high hopes. Got new 6.5x20x50 scope sighted in so well I shoot a hole in the target and then shoot at the hole. Range lasered at 117 yards.
