  1. The ATF doesn't write the laws . . . we vote people in to do that- you know, do things in our best interest ! Unfortunately for us, most politicians are lawyers-- writing vague and ambiguous laws allows for broad interpretation. That's where we get in trouble. One LEO's idea of a law may be radically different from another when dealing with these unclear regulations. That's where the lawyers make their money. Funny isn't it-- as much as we hate lawyers, they are the first one's we call to 'get us off.'
  2. I am a LEO; am considering SaltPeter's advice to "just get the 12-C. . .", but always find alterations/additions/ etc. a nice challenge. Will the ACE receiver block work in this instance?

And thus it was spoken; and so it shall be . . .
  4. What about the use of an adapter like the product ACE puts out? Will that eliminate the need for moving the trigger group forward and allow the attachment of an optional pistolgrip or different style stock?

Thanks. I'll monitor for "jam" issues. Are parts available to retrofit my 12 to a 12c?
  6. More info for you re: armorer's schools. Both of these listed training facilities will work with you to find/conduct a class: www.blackwaterusa.com and www.Alclark.com I have had extensive training at Blackwater- excellent instructors/facilities. The former is president of the company and specializes in weapons training of all types. Although neither provides a "scheduled" course, they do cater to the needs of the professional.
  7. You may have to seek help from a military armorer. Weapons courses are routine. Some civilian training facilities provide courses in basic foreign and domestic arms maintenance; although they mainly service the military for training purposes, LEO's frequently occupy the seats. Most will cater to the needs of the client.

Saltpeter, I have followed the forum for a while, but only recently registered. Sometimes I get lingering questions. Many answers I have found in previous threads. It would appear you are carrying your 12 on duty. You have been shooting it much longer than I, and before I deploy for duty I need the "trust" factor of this firearm. As with any weapon I carry, I have "shot the crap out of it", and feel fairly comfortable with it. However, in the spirit of honoring Murphy's Law I look for issues and expect them rather than be blindsided. How long have you utilized this weapon for work?
  9. Ah, so, said the blind man!
  10. Beautiful piece! You did nice work! Those parts will work well on my own project. LEO?
  11. I wouldn't recommend "fixing" an un-broken mag. Remember, this mag was designed to hold five rounds. Alteration to the follower may result in improper feeding, stuck rounds, and, over time, a magazine spring that no longer "springs". Overcompression of the spring is not good--it results in premature failure. When you need that round to feed- it may not.
  12. Does this gun require "Saiga specific" parts or will other AK parts fit?
  13. Concur. Awsome project. Looks like fun for protective detail and UC work.
  14. Would be nice is we could retrofit the new parts to our current firearms. . .
