  1. you can get 2 saigas for the price of a mini. Accuracy is far better in saiga. way more bbl lenghts. way more oohaah effect , too. plus you can get som many diff type mags and convert them into hicaps for your saiga, it is rediculous, and they are cheaper than ruger mags. the reason , the government was even able to put pressure on the gunmakers, is BECAUSE THE ALLREADY HAD RUGER! mr. crapruger, went up on the hill and testified publicly how good an idea it was, and urged/forced other gunmakers to go along. then this all got put into the media echo chamber, and off to the races it
  2. the southafrican, along with all theold british empire stuff, is usually pretty good. when i wanna zero something, or not sure about a zero, or haven't fired something in a while, i will go to the s.a. stuff, and will know in l than 5 rounds or less , how close to zero i am.
  3. don't finish it... just stop right there. and yes , about 3 weeks ago, i saw one at collectors firearms, somewhere in the 400's, and if I remember right, it was converted.
  4. looks like about a 1 inch group from here. very nice. what is that bbl length?
  5. ive got one 16 incher in each cal, and they are all moa capable, the 762 russian i really have to work for, the 308 is easier, and the 223 does it with a yawn. i don't know about the longer bbl models, but seeing as the 22 inch bbl, gets you 4 or 500 fps faster at the muzzle, this would be good to know for long range hunting purposes. oh yeah, the 308 trigger is something out of a steven king novel. i had a gunsmith acually reshape mine, JUST the actual trigger part. made it a little better, emphasis on the little. so if you get one, get it converted.
  6. if it is plain jane, that is high. janes should go for about 300, give or take, maybe a little less, depending on your part of the country.
  7. i like 'em plane jane, but i could def pick one of those up! that is very fine.
  8. wow! it is just friday, and it allready got here! thanks , bud!
  9. cool, didnt' get one, but will see the dude at the Pasadena gun show in 2 weeks. I will check em out better then. so you are saying, make sure they have romanian or russian/cyrillic markings, and not to say century?
  10. yes yes, i agree, black hills is wonderful in mine as well, also the winny 45 grn varmints, are sub moa capable. Now if i only could find a russian round called TCW, 56 grn, polymer tipped, soooo nice! only found them once, could only buy 5 boxes. Shoulda went back and bought them all.
  11. I could be wrong, but i don't see a 22 lr working the action of a long stroke, gas piston anything.
  12. typically, with a high power centerfire, depending on this , that , the other, you could say on avg you will loose 75 to 100 fps per inch and also the same in lbs of E. when shortening a bbl. A 16 in bbl will get you about 2600 fps vels, while a 22 to 24 in bbl., will get you close to the 3000 mark depending on bbl, bullet weight , etc. In other words , don't do it! though I must say, I really like my 'lil stubby.
  13. im soaking my saigas in a stainless steel trough i had built, in sweet shooters, for 7 days, then i will moly coat the bbl/action/reveiver. I know, over kill. should be super easy to clean forever, though. Usually when i clean, i dont like scrubbing, i think it wears things out faster than anything else, so i like to use gunscrubber by gunslick. Let the foam do all the work, leave it in for about 15 mins. swap it out, repeat twice. I also have a water heater that gives out nuclear temps, and a kitchen sink head that puts out fire hydrant pressure. So I blast all the crud out with the
  14. wow! hi cap 308 mags under 50 bucks? I guess the 7 day wrrty is for some of us who will put it through a 1000 round hell test, start getting some probls, then go, "hey dude, these don't work!"
  15. to Indy; I dont know where Saiga girl is from , but she is scary close looking to my ex-girlfriend. Just don't tell me she was origionally from Mississippi, or I may need therapy.
  16. i would say that for the casual plinker, and shooters of differing disciplines, that 20 and 30 round mags for the 308 would be the best way to go. especially for 3 gun shooters. i would also try to find a way to make the followers either have a rear "lip" on them , or boat tail in the back, or somehow come up higher in the rear, to make them a true LSHO magazine. Everyone that i know of who has ever posted here asks about this , especially new posters, and i know most of the 'vet's here would love to make a mag that holds open last shot, their regular supply. I don't know how others feel
  17. there is a guy right now , at the Houston gun show, until tommorrow sunday, selling two rpk's , brand new, with that wicked long bbl, stock built in bipod, and carrying arm, for 600 bucks. Should I get it? Is this a decent price? Also Collector's frirearms in houston has a very nice custom looking one that is in 223, but it is 1300 dollars.
  18. i will dittos on the silver bear, seems all my diff saigas likey that round quite a bit, next i would say wolf, then monarch, jsc, barnaul, prvi. (those last 4 are really the same). I like the 120 plus grnrs, the 154's seem a little too non groupy to me, too much scatter, can't seem to find a pattern, even though the overall group is still small at 100 yds. Also any of the old British empire stuff should be fine , I would think, which is why the cheetah(s.african) seems to work well. check singapore, australia, chinese, as well. Also Canadian. then if you can find it, check like Venezuela,
  19. yeah, i've got the cz in x39 as well, it is a one hole punch. So that Sako is probably very good as well. If you get ammo for it , dont get American made, as it is probably 310 dia bullet, which will hurt your accuracy, especially since the sako is a European rifle. All the foreign milsurp stuff, plus wolf, jsc, Barnaul, monarch, whatever name you find it under, shoudl be 311 dia, which works fine. Origionally , I think old Kal was designing his ak for the old german 8x33 round, and had completed several test models for it , when big commy bro said "you design for theese round!" so he made
