  1. Hi everyone. I am trying to decide between buying a Yugo SKS and a Saiga x39. I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice based on their experience of the Accuracy, Reliability and Practicality of these two rifles. I had originally been planning on buying a saiga .308 but a Swiss K31 caught my eye instead. So I am still looking to get a fighting carbine. I am not interested in putting optics on it and I will probably be keeping it pretty plain jane whichever one I get. Thanks!
  2. 79th New York Volunteer Infantry "Cameron Highlanders" wore black scottish bonnets, or glengarries during the american civil war. I have always found them to be a very interesting unit and really enjoyed reading about them.
  3. Fugly stick makes tubular saiga handguards i believe....
  4. So is there anyone here that has experience with bullet buttons, raddlocks, etc? I was all gung ho for doing a conversion but several people have made me doubt whether that is a good idea... I had a guy at a local gun store tell me that even with a bullet button I have a good chance of being harassed or told that my firearm is illegal... His argument was that as soon as I remove my magazine from my rifle to reload (even with the bullet button) it becomes "a rifle capapble of accepting a detachable magazine." Does anyone here use magazine devices? Have you ever had trouble? Would I be tak
  5. Thanks BattleRifle! I really like the look of your stuff. Hopefully I will be able to pick up a set some time in the future!
  6. Just my rather uncollected thoughts on a SHTF situation... Honestly I don't think that engaging the enemy in a sustained fire-fight would be a big priority for me. Any shooting done would be in self defense. Hiding and running away to safety is my first priority. Avoid contact as much as possible. So really a fully automatic firearm isn't necessary. Obtaining one BEFORE the S hits the F is difficult (especially if, like me, you live in the PRK) and your money could be better spent stocking up on ammunition or food. I don't own a saiga yet but I plan on getting one. The .308 round
  7. Lovely hex receiver! I have a 91/30 I bought on a big 5 sale quite a few years ago. Poor thing has become pitted since then...
  8. Im just going to go with the 22" Saiga .308. I won't have money to buy anything else once I get the gun so I will be shooting it in standard configuration for a while. Does anyone know if Battlerifleg3 is still in business?
  9. Ok, so the first step towards getting my .308 is mostly out of the way (convincing the wife that it is necessary that "we" have one) now I have got the bug... I am planning on buying the 22" version with the synthetic furniture. I have been looking around the forum a LOT and am coming to the conclusion that what "we" REALLY need is a Saiga .308 converted to pistol grip configuration... So.. I looked on Dinzag arms and saw that he sells converted Arsenal two stage FCGs made specially for Saiga .308s. Do I just buy that? Or do I need more? Tools? Can I irreparably damage my inves
  10. I suppose I could actually use the La Rue super low QD mounts in conjunction with the TWS dogleg. I am just finnicky and like to have access to iron sights if i need them... Is the Dogleg's rear peep sight adjustable?
  11. Hello! I will soon be purchasing a 22" Saiga .308 and I plan on putting a scope on it. My question though, is actually about the side mounts. I have used La Rue tactical QD mounts in the past and they have an excellent return to zero when you reattach them. Do the AK side mounts return to zero if you remove then reattach them? Or do you need to sight them in all over again? Also, I live in the Democratic Republic of Kalifornia and have been amazed at the ignorance of some gun shop owners here... I was recently told "Sorry we can't order that. It's a machine gun." I was asking for a p
