I'm looking to change my stock and my gas tube/hand guard on my SGL-21 from the plastic bits to some actual wood when the time comes. I've seen some really beautiful wood on some really nice AK-47s in the past and am wondering if anyone has any tips or products they can direct me to for some top-of-the-line goodness in the wood department (or at least what you feel on the matter). I'd greatly appreciate any and all help, thanks!

I am definitely going to be buying one from them and then doing the conversion myself; I'm just glad with this review period that I get some more time to purchase one rather than get one immediately and be in a tight spot. I'd really be rather bitter about it all if I never got the chance to own one!

I wasn't too fond of the railing on the barrel myself, but thought it'd be decent until I can do an actual rail system on the Saiga. I'm really dreading changing the trigger group for one reason or another, but to save money I might just end up going with the SGL12-02 and worry about any sort of rail system in the future.

I've looked through these forums and across the internet but I haven't been able to get a good lead on any final say on the matter. I don't want to miss out on my chance on acquiring one of these Saigas but with prices shooting through the roof and money being tight, I'd really like to know for sure what the deal is before I jump on a Saiga like there is no tomorrow. I've been reading over http://www.atf.gov/p...in-shotguns.pdf and apparently shit's gonna be hitting the fan for a lot of different kinds of shotguns, and not just the Saiga. It's obvious that they're targeting it, but with legisl

Personally I wanted to get a Russian sight because it is a Russian gun, but ultimately I just want what works the best when I need it too. As wonderful as it would be to keep all of it Russian, I'd rather be alive with a functional weapon than dead with a cool one. I am just curious how the Russian optic ended up being awkward for you, is all. Did it have something to do with the way you had to crane your neck? Did it sit too high? Out of the entire Aimpoint line, you'd go with the Micro T-1? I'll look into product details momentarily, but looking at that compared to some of the other opt

@bigsal: That is definitely a big plus, both the fact that it can still function some what without battery life and how you can use the irons as well. Definitely, possibly, probably the one I'll go with if I go with any of the four that I listed! @Jim Digriz: Aimpoint, huh? Which one would you suggest out of their entire product line (if you've got a preference)?

I am sure I am not the first person to ask this question, nor will I probably be the last person to ask this question, but I just thought it might be helpful to get some opinions on what is the best side-mounted optic out there. I'm looking for something Russian (of course), something well worth the money and functions flawlessly. My biggest fear is that it might sit too far forward or too far back for myself, on top of blowing three hundred dollars on an optic that won't function right for me. Looking over what Kalinka has to offer, I've come across numerous side-mounted optics that have caug

Not to bring a toipc back from the dead, but I would definitely be all over one if they do resume production.

The underfolding stock and laminated wood is the ideal look that I am going for. L5K and I obviously see eye to eye about things, but the idea of buying a Saiga rifle as they're imported by RAA and doing the conversion myself sounds like it'd be worth the fun. I own an SGL-21 and I love it more than anything; I'm just looking to appease the other side of me that is into the style of the AKMS. If I would go with an original Saiga and do the conversion myself, would anyone have any recommendations for underfolding stocks/heat guards and the like? I haven't combed through the conversion thread my

I'm looking for an AKMS from a reputable manufacturer to have along side my main AK-47. I'm not necessarily looking for the bargain bin deal, as I'd want something that is great and wonderful all on it's own, but I'm not entirely sure if I'm seeing everything there is to offer. I know a lot of people on this forum have bought many AKs and know who to trust and who are the to-go-to guys when you need an extra AK around the house. So far I've come across http://www.cheaperth...om/70779-1.html which, as far as I can tell, seems pretty sound - though I have never purchased anything from Century Ar

@Scattergun10: I agree with you to the fullest extent, thanks! @Mullet Man: Thanks for the heads up, this is definitely a lot more well off of a place to order ammunition for all kinds. I'm definitely favoriting the site (and only ordering more than enough to get those large wooden cases when available)! I really appreciate the quick response!

Looking around for surplus ammunition (see: corrosive) next to the Wolf Military Classic rounds I normally by, I stumbled across this deal on the Century Arms website for Yugoslavian ammunition ($277.87/1,260rds) here: http://www.centuryar....asp?prod=AM885. I'm not entirely sure if this may be a good find or if anyone on here might know a thing or two about surplus ammunition and what to steer clear from. If anyone has any thoughts, or even better suggestions, then please let me know! I greatly appreciate the assistance.

Thanks for the input, you two. I was speaking to a couple of other members in the chat and I decided to put my faith in Cadiz Gun Works. I've sent BVAMP a PM and hopefully things run smoothly from there. It's really something to have the entrepreneurs doing business be a part of a community with their customers. It's very comforting and I'm glad to be a member!
