  1. I was able to find a couple russian polymer surplus mags in my net searches, while I was reluctant to pick them up for 60 bucks I thought it wiser to have some quality mags. I also grabbed a cheaper tapco mag that I figure ill use for range time.

So I was test fitting my new gas tube today, and I have come to realize that while I can get the tube to fit, I have to struggle really hard to get it on an off, and the sight lever actually appears to be digging into the rear of the tube just slightly. I know that some filing is generally neccesary, but when I compare the saiga gas tube and the ak tube, the saiga doesnt appear to come into any sort of contact with the sight base lever. When I set both tubes side by side, the ak gas tube appears slightly longer, I have already done some filing to ensure that the tube will fit past the
  3. So evidently I waited too long to purchase a 5.45, and now I guess the surplus steel mags are pretty much gone or rather expensive. So my question is, are polymer mags as good as I hear, or as bad as I hear? I am hoping for middle ground on them, but I keep hearing that the plastic wears out quick on new production magazines made here in the states, or that getting a tapco is a waste of my money, or that the plastic mags are great for the cost but nothing else.
