  1. The saiga 030 and 040 guns have a metal rail. Now I don't know if they are steel or aluminum rails though. Would that matter? If it is Al, I don't want to warp/melt it when placing the weld on the rivet through heat transfer.
  2. That's not bad shooting. Makes me want to put a scope on mine and see what it/I can do. I was a little weary about how sturdy the top cover would be when shooting slugs, but it looks like it works pretty well! In IL, we can only use shotguns and handguns to hunt (except for varmints then we could use anything without restriction). I don't hunt, but seeing your rig is getting me wanting to get out in the field and try my luck! Good luck hunting this season. I will try to find a local guy to put a small weld on it for me. I'll then polish it square and go off your measurements and se
  3. I really appreciate the replies Wagnikov and Cobra! And that is really nice work Cobra!
  4. Thanks Cobra, I had mine smoothed down to almost flush. I have not had any problems with the last round bolt hold open, but I am worried about stresses being applied to the carrier (mostly where the piston is threaded into the carrier itself) and it eventually cracking. Currently I have an aimpoint pro mounted into a low ring. So far, the gun has been shooting great with federal bulk pack with izhmash mags and 10rnd vepr mags. I wonder if it is possible to build the rivet back up to spec with a weld and then polishing it to smooth? Cobra, did you measure the rivet from the b
  5. Hi, I have an saiga 030 clone and I unwittingly had the large top cover rivet smoothed to reduce friction during conversion. I recently learned that that it supposed to be that way. If anyone could give me the mic measurements or rough measurements of theirs, it would be really appreciated. I suppose I could put some weld there to build it back up to where it supposed to be. Thanks!
  6. I had ordered a couple 10 round vepr 12 mags from legion a couple months ago and was wondering if anyone had received theirs or had any info? I had emailed legion 7/14 and they said it would ship out of customs the next week, but I think it must have got held up. I emailed them a couple times but they don't respond. I assume they are just held up still but just wondering if anyone else had gotten theirs. Thanks!
  7. I personally would buy one. Not only as a something that works better than the factory BHO, but as a spare part. At what price point? I don't know how much it would cost to make such an item. I would say maybe around but hopefully less than $50?
  8. You so dummm!! dunt feel bad tho, me dummy too. Those pictures make it a lot clearer on why the bolt won't release on the saigas. Good stuff.
  9. ^^^ I really like that. Looks slim and lightweight.
  10. Ahhh! thanks for the info! Would the LRBHO mechanism be the same? Or did they design something different for 030 style shotguns?
  11. You are talking about an s12 with a magwell and lrbho? I am unsure if there are versions other than that that have the factory lrbho. Anyway, It might not be the best method, but I removed my lever and put it in a vice with padding to prevent marring. I then bent the portion that interacts with the magazine rearward so that it would no interfere with the shells; very slightly I should add (the lever is pretty hard). It seemed that it worked in that I don't get hangups anymore. There might be a better way, but I couldn't think of one. By the way, I was getting hangups on factory mag
  12. No, Lee confirmed to me that the saigas, unlike the vepr, did not use the lever to release the bolt. The way I got it to work was that the rims of the shells in the magazine were activating the bolt hold and holding the bolt back when there were still cartridges in the magazine, so I took out the bolt hold lever and bent it slightly so that the shells were not catching on it. It must have changed the lever just enough so that I can use it. If the vepr lever is exactly the same as the iz433 then I dont know why it doesn't work. I don't have the vepr and I assumed the lever had a differen
