  1. Yes, I can field strip it blind folded, and take the gas pipe off. It IS my fav rifle of all time, nothing complex, easy to clean.
  2. First off, saigas today are now $280 $350 range, I paid $400 for mine... 2nd it only cost me $120 to convert with shipping cost. IT IS WORTH IT, you get a totaly new gun and you get to use 30 round/75 drum mags. Why SPEND $30 on a 10 round factor magazine??? when you own 3 factory magazines YOU PAID FOR THE CONVERT! Also AK-47s ARE NOT $600 anymore, that was last year, and even up to $750 at my local gun stores Obama.. I think AK's run $380-$450 now, last gun show I saw one for $440 and internet places are $380ish. P.S I heard AK wasrs are peice of crap, junk, built by monkeys.
  3. Thank you for this info I did not know this. I might just spend the extra money and get the tighten one. I do not to do more filing on my saiga lol. I wish they made the gas tube pre holed for it.
  4. The CSS part has a bolt running in between the gas tube & barrel, requires notching the barrel for the bolt to catch in.The Dinzag is a two piece, top bolts into the bottom and has a small set screw on top, no notching necessary. http://dinzagarms.co...x39/akbor1.html I may go with the dinzag, much cleaner style, just have to decide if its worth the extra $50. Both Dinzag & CSS carry the same type of gas tube upper retainer, but different lower retainers. Dinzags lower retainer costs $85. vs $35. for CSS's The CSS part has a bolt running in between the gas tube & bar
  5. You'll need a new front sight block. K-Var sells the Bulgarian AK-74 style FSBs, which I believe is the best way to go. That requires a dremel? sounds hard. I thought it was much simpler, do you happen to know a video/instruction web page on how to install one? I would like to go over it before I tryed anything.
  6. What do I need to do to install a bayonet lug/mount to put a knife on it. So it looks more like an AK47, does it just like weld in place? or do I need a whole new front sights? And where could I get one ?
  7. I heard the factory trigger SUCKS so convert it.. Unless you have a converted one already and just want a plain unmodified one.
  8. AH I just saw your post, so DO need the gas tube to FIT ak furniture. Wow not bad for $30 for a gas tube. I thought they where like $100.. Maybe that was the saiga 12/20g I saw. Ok so the two peices would come under $100 not bad! I will probably get those. The new gas tube, does not affect my accuracy? Atlest I will have a spare gas tube... I can see where it would fit in the new tube. The HANDGUARD RETAINING LOWER BRACKET Does it just tighted on by screwing the two metal peices together? THERE IS NOTHING ELSE I NEED CORRECT? Just those two parts? I do not want to order it then
  9. The tapco one is that the one in your picture? I have seen the tapco one before and never thought it would fit, theres no upper guard but I guess its just like the factory one(clamps on). I was kinda hoping to use my K-var parts to have the real AK look. All I would need is a lower retainer peice? or do I need another part as well?
  10. IS there any Handguards out there that do not require a mod to add them on the gun? I really do not like the factory handguard its ugly and the screw always comes lose. I would need a lower handguard retainer peice. A gas block for the top part, which I have no idea how much those are and where to get one. Dinzagarms used to sell them (or does but I can not find it on his site) I think its a gas block? gas tube? or I just only need the retainer peice? I have a K-VAR handguard uper and lower
  11. Ah just what I need! thank you Al! now this isnt going mess up the 922® some crazy foreign made peice of metal? lol... I didnt see it on gun wiki so I think its all good. .. ? I also need the gas tube, now does that count for extra points on the 922® ?
  12. TTHANK YOU that is the answer I needed! "Yes all the parts on a saiga are already checked in the boxes of the checklist. That means you uncheck the parts you add to get your final count. you are legal from what you describe, with either foreign or US mags. " You guys are helpful but some of you confused me I did not understand it... I just wanted to make sure the gun wiki is OK because you know wikipedia is unrealiable. I just wanted to be %100 sure and not get in trouble with the law because its so weird.... I figured I was legal because looking at the pictures and posts, you guy
  13. NOT PISTON, Sorry I made a mistake, I ment the bolt on lower handguard retainer that goes near the gas pipe to hold on a K-VAR handguard because mine cleary does not fit without a mod. Yes gas pistons are only like $20 Nalioth your saiga, what parts do you have in your gun? and do you use foreign magazines? ( this will make it clear for me) I feel like a idiot asking the question Ok I am making this too hard on everyone, what I need to ask is. My gun is converted it has 5 US made parts in it, if I stuck a foreign magazine into the gun am I legal? YES OR NO? IF NOT does that
  14. What parts would be the easy to add on next? I already have a US made handguard but it does not fit, I need a new gas piston which is $80.. from dinzagarms is his gas pistons US made? ( I thought the handguard on the gun[FACTORY] was already made in the US????) How do you guys get your legal? what parts do you convert? I already have the 5 parts I just need 3 more so I CAN USE MAGAZINES. Like the ones from aimsurplus. I have a two tapco magazines but I like the foreign magazines because they are cheaper.
