  1. ah christ... sandpaper? its 1000rds too oh well... live and learn! thank you all very much for the input. I also have a can of spray rem oil, would it be good/bad/indifferent if i were to coat the ammo in oil? they're sealed bullets and primers if that makes any difference.
  2. Hey, i had some wolf mil classic that i broke up and put in to a good condition cleaned out ammo can. Its been in there for about a month and i opened it up to reload some magazines i shot off and i noticed that the ammo in the can is starting to spot and discolor. Ive read that its fine to store loose ammo this way. i hope i didn't just waste a lot of money and ammo. Any suggestions and comments are greatly welcomed! Thank you in advance madcow
  3. I hope people will read this... hitch pins will fail, Easily. In fact i had them fail, fixed it and it failed again the next time shooting. The shepherds crook is a very stable piece, but it was hard FOR ME to install and remove. A friend bought the tapco plate it it wasnt the best fit, It works but wasnt that easy to install. I have 2 krebs style plate that will come in, hopefully, tomorrow. I will gladly throw my 2 cents on those ones as well! Madcow
  4. I have no experience with this, but wouldn't you be better off getting a grip on the barrel and twisting your FSB? If its threadded it'll come off...if its not it'll spin in place. Then you'll have an answer to procede further. Sounds logical to me but I could be wrong...
  5. No jeff, I'm with you. I drill and tapped my trunnions with an 18v makita with old bits and no oil. Definitely take your time on the tap though, but a machine shop is extreme in my opinion.
  6. The kits from CSS are great! Dinzag has most everything imaginable! If you think about exactly what you want, you are able to save a little money along the conversion process. Here is a list of "needed" parts for a conversion: 1 Buttstock - Some have kept the original buttstock, but in my opinion it looks kinda crappy. Check around your local gun shops for surplus wood around 25 bucks! 2 Fire Control Group - Tapco G2 unmodified runs around 30 bucks. 5 minutes with a dremel and youre in business. I know tromix offers a modified FCG if you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself.
  7. Hind sight is always 20/20. For my time and effort spent, the 8 bucks for the plate in the beginning would have been well spent!
  8. I just want to throw my 2 cents worth on hitch pins and shepherds crooks. THESE ARE MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCES WITH THESE TWO OPTIONS: Originally i installed two small hitch pins and in my 762 and also in my S12. The pins on my 762 failed! It wasnt catastrophic, but after shooting I cleaned my rifle. The hitch pin that was holding my trigger in was in place, but not locked in. I immediately went online and ordered 2 shepherds crooks. I went with the shepherds crook because they were cheaper and are essentially 100% reliable. I had one hell of a time installing these shepherds crooks. It
  9. jesus christ man, are you serious!? people are allowed to question anything they dont understand. thats why we come here. Anyways... Great point Azrial. I was looking at the trijicon reflex, rmr, Leupold deltapoint reflex and other similar style optics. Does the dot size matter on these? I couldnt understand why these typically have larger moa dots. Wouldnt a smaller dot be better?
  10. Am i allowed to bitch about the prices of American optics? or did i wave that right? lol
  11. Is it wrong of me to not use bushnell cause they're made in mexico and korea?
  12. Im just glad that guy didnt get stabbed in the fucking face at 2:15! that would have been a huge embarrassment! i woulda chopped everyone to bits with that saber~ and I think if you look closely they are swinging their rifles exactly down the seams of the rows of seating as to not paint anyone! except the guy that was walking with the popcorn and sodas... that asshole almost fucking died! those guy's are slick though
  13. All of these stories are exactly why i ONLY shoot with people i trust with very few exceptions. I will gladly pass up shooting with "friends of friends." One of the guys i shoot with brought a friend one time. The guy was not being considerate of where he was pointing the barrel of 12g. Everytime the barrel got close to me i threw my left hand up, made a noise or comment and put my right hand on my 1911... If you want to point a barrel at me, I'm okay with that. But just understand that im going to point one right back at you, and im a pretty decent shot
  14. OK, so ill chime in my own post like the cool guy i am... The large square etching is where it at one point said Russian American Armory Company Scottsburg IN. Was Izhmash engraving RAA on the saigas before being shipped? If RAA did the importing, how did it have to get changed over to Mercury-Hermes?
  15. Hey guy's. Ive never seen these markings before... anyone have any information on them? Thanks
