[Poly-Choke issues]

I have been using the standard Poly-Choke for a year now and I like the patterns I get with it but it seems to fowl at an incredible rate. After emptying an MD20 rapid fire I need a set of vicegrips to change settings which is a bit of a pain in the arse. I have had Poly-Chokes on other shotguns without this problem and was hoping that in this great knowledge base someone would have a way to cure the issue. Any help would be appreciated.

I did my conversion by lantern lite and it came out fantastic! Can't imagine having a well lit and stocked shop, probably will take you two hours or less.

Everyone that has them on the shelves at all is fortunate. I had never seen one in person and I spend my share of time in the three local shops. Until I traded a friend who lives in the people's republic of California for his bone stock one which is stock no longer.

+1 on the bent hammer spring. I did that when I first converted along with bending the BHO spring over the tab it rests on and have had no issues in a thousand rounds or so.

I made just such a block out of aluminum for my S12 and it works fantastic.

I did a cut tang with a push button folder and it was a super easy job and my first conversion. I wound up removing the folding mechanism due to my OCD not being able to deal with the minimal wiggle that is inherent in the design. I now have the skeleton stock bolted directly to the internal block and couldn't be happier with the setup.

+1 on the V-Plug. If your gun would cycle ammo-X with the factory plug the V-Plug will give you much more control over its cycling.

I talked to the good people at MDArms earlier and they told me drums should be back in stock in 4-5 weeks. The were surprised to sell out the stock they had. I assume due to the recent paranoia.

Three port gun here and no idea what size they are but it ran bulk out of the box.

The only after market plug I have experience with is the MD Arms V-Plug and next to converting the gun it was the best thing I have done for it.

I also have a November backorder for the extended quad with sights and noticed that they were listed as available for a few days recently. Just wondering when the older backorders will be ready to ship?

I got lucky with mine. It is a three hole made in 08 and ran great out of the box. I was able to run Walmart bulk on setting two with no issues and everything else on setting one. From what i understand the reliability of the guns can run from great to terrible from the factory. If you can, i would recommend taking out the gas plug before you buy one to see if the gas ports are all open and you have at least three. just a noobs two cents.

I took the folder off of mine and put it on a rifle. I like the S-12 better without it.

 

 

I agree. i took mine off moments before finding this thread. I never liked the little jiggle in my folder. now it feels like a tank!

[Saiga 12 Conversion]

Don't be intimidated by doing the work yourself. I prepared my receiver with a hand drill in my poorly lit basement and did the restoration in deer camp with minor hand tools and just the light from a lantern and head lamp. Came out perfect!

I used the fine flat file on a leatherman tool to fit mine. I wouldn't use something that removes a lot of material at once, a few passes and check for fit, repeat as necessary.
