  1. So looking at CSS website they have a Billet trigger guard that incorporates the grip mount. Do you think this is stronger or weaker then the more traditional stud you drop down?
  2. Thanks for the info, few more questions. What is the handguard tension spring,? I have a gas tube i bought for a wood hand guard. As has the the hardware goes, it says on the site to let em know what im using. Does anyone have a list of what i need? or better yet does anyplace just sell a whole kit of what i need to finish it off? Ill go with the Yugo M76 grip for sure but what about the other options? Last thing, looking at the CSS kit listed here http://store.carolinashooterssupply.com/servlet/-strse-714/Saiga-Rifle-Conversion-Kit/Detail, it looks like ti comes with a short bolt
  3. RIght now looking at IronWood for my needs, a few questions. Do they offer any other finish other then the "Russian Red" option they show on the front page? I'd really like to get my set already finished and ready for the gun. Also where is the best place to pick up kit for the sling, butplate, and other hardware needed to finish off the stock set? Is there any other place I should be looking for my stock set?
  4. So maybe not as smooth as I like but I got my bullet guide in with some fighting. See when I drilled the hole and tapped it I measure it wrong and put the hole a touch to far back to be able to thread the screw in with the guide in. So I kissed the back of the bullet guide with a file till I could slide the guide in enough to get the screw in. Everything seems to be in order and it seems to cycle fine as I ran 30 rounds through by just working the action by hand. So I'm gonna head to the range to test fire it before I lock tight it down real good. Will the screw stay in place for a 100 or so r
  5. So I got this gas tube a while back from CSS and just got around to looking at it. First there is this dent... I'm not sure if that dent is so post to be there or not. I try and put it in anyways but what happening with it is that little block that holds it in well its digging into the gas tube before it will turn all the way. Here's a pic... See the shiny part that is where that block was digging into the gas tube. I assume I can just stone it down a little without damage? Also is there anyway to use that spring on the factory gas tube that keeps it from rattling on the new gas tu
  6. Cant seem to find any one the net. Are they still being imported? Can a dealer order one?
  7. Sent about 100 rounds down range all was perfect. Only got two questions. First my firing pin seems to be free float. As in I shake the bolt and can hear the pin rattle. Is that normal? Also how does one take apart the bolt? Drive out that pit i assume? Also is it good to lube everything? I sprayed everything down with Ballistol, Body, action, bolt, gas tube.... everything then rubbed clean with a cloth. Is that all the lube I need?
  8. Thanks bro, for the gas tube just needs to be off a Russian right? And my last question is, If I wanted to put the cleaning rod on it like the AKs do, Looks like Ill have to chnage the front sight. Any quick way (cheap) way to do this?
  9. Thanks, this is what your talking about right? http://store.carolinashooterssupply.com/servlet/-strse-405/AK47-Saiga-gas-tube/Detail any other source for them? CSS seems to be sold out. Also what do you mean "clamp on retainer"?
  10. I want to use USA made wood, that with the CSS converesion kit would get me to be 922 ok even if I used Russian mags. Can anyone answer the gas tube wood question?
  11. Just got mine, first thing I'm gonna do is gonna go shoot it to make sure all is well. Then Install a bullet guide, my question is what AK mags are best? Also when it comes to furniture. I want some nice Russian red wood. Where is a good source for this? Also when you buy wood for it do you get the gas tube with it? Looks like the upper hand guard and gas tube are one piece? Thanks!
  12. Went to my locol place and ordered me one out the door for $400. I'm very happy man. I just want some more info on converting it. For the pistol grip I'm using US Palm, and K-Var for the stock and handguard. Now for the trigger group, who makes the best stuff? You guys seem to recommend the CSS kit. Which is fine but is there a better higher quality option? If I go with the CSS I'll also user there trigger spring as they say it improves trigger feel which sounds good to me. Thanks for your time!
  13. CONVERSION KIT #6 all Saiga 223, 7.62, 308, 5.45 Rifles and 410 & 20 Gauge Shotguns Complete Trigger Conversion Kit PRICE: $142.95 IN STOCK AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE CONVERSION KIT #6-CSS all Saiga 223, 7.62, 308, 5.45 Rifles and 410 & 20 Gauge Shotguns Complete Trigger Conversion Kit PRICE: $158.95 IN STOCK AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE Whats the difference between these two kits?
  14. How do they compare to the quality of other AKs? I want something a little nicer then a WASR but not as pricey as a Arsenal. I see these go for 400 on gun broker and local place wants 500 for them. I would convert it but how are the topco triggers? topco seems to have a reputation for junk but here they are liked. Also I see they dont take regular AK mags yet on posts here i see them with AK mags. What gives?
