  1. You’re going to hear mixed reviews, but I have had nothing but excellent experiences with their stuff. I personally have their 10.5” (FN/CHF), 16” (FN/non-CHF) and 20”(? barrel manufacturer/nitride) uppers and a myriad of their premium BCGs. All 3 are exceptionally accurate. In fact, my 10.5” PSA is a better shooter than the 10.3” DD MK18 upper I had. All have perfectly concentric bores and run fine suppressed.

I also have a friend who has one of their 16” stainless pencil-profile uppers that he has run hard in several carbine courses without an issue to speak of. He never ran that one suppressed though.

Before someone starts posting the obligatory “jUsT aS gOoD” memes, I’d like to add that my current go-to rifle is a Colt 6921 upper on an SBR lower. I run that upper because the smaller gas port gets less gas in my face when I’m running a can. That said, as far as reliability is concerned, in a life-or-death situation I would have the same confidence in my PSA wares as I do in my Colt. And for the record, my DD MK18 was the least reliable upper I’ve owned yet.

last edit: I have zero experience with their AR-10 pattern rifles.

  2. Also I would stay away from AAC's rifle cans...  I bought an SDN-6 a couple years ago as my first can, and it worked out so well that I bought the Saker for the exact same role last year.  The AAC can itself is OK and has good suppression, but the 51T mounting system is total garbage.  The mounts are not consistently made and if you get one that your can locks up tightly on, it is the luck of the draw.

I recommend buying an alignment rod like the ones Geissele or CNC Warrior sell.  I have the Geissele unit and I am pretty sure it has saved my cans a couple times now.  Most recently from a defective AAC muzzle device.

My buddy just bought an M4-2000 after I tried to steer him away from it for that very reason. Guess we'll have to wait and see if he lucked out with a solid lockup.

Also, +1 to the CNC Warrior alignment rod. I got it on sale for like $20 and it's worked like a charm on two cans.

  3. - B5 SOPMOD stock

    - Malkoff 325 lumen E2/Scout head

    - CNC warrior suppressor alignment rod

    - ASR suppressor mount and SilencerCo high-temp suppressor cover (got both for free from SiCo)

Also, two friends of mine each bought DD MK18 uppers, so while I didn't buy them, I'm the only one with an SBR lower so I definitely get to play with them extensively biggrin.png

  4. So are you saying I shouldn't get a PSA?

I realize I'm really late to the party here, but there is absolutely no reason not to buy from PSA. Their FN-barreled Premium series is right up there with Colt, LMT, BCM, etc. I can't speak from experience for their nitrided line but reports have been pretty overwhelmingly favorable. My buddy just ordered one of their nitrided 10.5s yesterday that we're planning on putting through its paces on my SBR lower before he decides to suppress it.

PSA used to get flack back in the day because they grew too fast and their customer service and QC suffered for it. That just isn't the case anymore.

  5. You will be happy with it. I still think that FSB in combination with the Bulgarian brake is one of the best recoil tamers on the planet.

Having compared it back-to-back with a VG6 Gamma, Lantac Dragon and SI King Comp, it's pretty damn impressive for 40 year old Soviet tech. It would probably be even more impressive on an AR where the impulse of the carrier wasn't so prominent.

  6.

The ones with the 62 gr. Bullet?

I keep looking at suppressors and keep talking myself out of it.

If things change legally and I dont have to pay off Uncle for permission absolutely.

The HPA - if it passes - has a provision in it to refund the $200 tax stamp for suppressors purchased after October of 10/22/15. In addition to that, SilencerCo is offering $200 in store credit on any of their cans purchased between 2/1/17 and 4/30/17.

  7. I have an LCP, LC9 and LC9S. The LC9S is a great overall carry gun. VASTLY improved (and I'd even say "nice") trigger over the LC9, decent capacity, 100% reliable with factory ammo and has a small print, even when pocket carrying. It's also surprisingly accurate out to 25yds. I also have a Kimber Ultra Carry HD in .45 but even with the extra heft of the stainless steel frame, the recoil difference between that and the LC9S is night and day.

  8. For direct CNS hits it doesn't  really matter what kind of cavity it creates on the way. In the event that the round doesn't hit the CNS or some vital organ, a larger wound cavity will cause more bleeding. Any good expanding SD round will more or less do the same job of accomplishing that while at the same time reducing the risk of a complete pass through and hitting an unintended target.

The ability to take accurate follow-up shots if needed is more important than the otherwise inconsequential differences between a Gold Dot and and an HST or a 9mm and a .45*. If you're considering a compact or subcompact for EDC, recoil differences between calibers will be much more noticeable and will affect controllability. If you're considering carrying a full-sized frame, the capacity difference between calibers also starts to become larger. In either scenario, 9mm has a fairly large advantage. For that reason, I consider 9mm to be the best choice for SD purposes.

*My personal opinion. Take with a grain of salt.
