  1. Thanks guys. Now that you mention it, I do remember that once the gun locked up, the BHO lever was no longer under spring pressure and was just flopping around inside the gun. Looks like y'all have found the problem. When we do the pistol grip conversion I'll have him file that notch for the spring and it should fix it right up.
  2. A friend of mine just bought a new S-12....he doesn't have an account here but I'm recommending that he get one. His gun is still stock - he hasn't done a pistol grip conversion yet. We were out shooting it for the first time yesterday, when suddenly, the bolt hold open lever popped up and jammed the bolt open. The little "tab" that sticks out of the hole in the bottom of the receiver had disappeared up into the receiver. After checking things out, I was able to reach up through the BHO slot in the bottom of the receiver with a screwdriver blade and wiggle the tab back down into position. Howe
  3. Has anyone else had a problem with the ACE hinge coming unlocked under recoil on a converted S-12? It's happening more and more frequently to me, usually during a sustained string of fire (such as shooting 5+ steel plates at once) in a 3-gun match. Pretty annoying. It was suggested to me to flip the hinge over, which would apparently solve the popping open problem but would result in the stock folding to the right, so it would no longer be able to be fired with the stock folded. Any other suggestions before I go and do that, or remove the folder mechanism entirely?
  4. For the rear swivel, yes, I know that. I'm looking for what to use for the front swivel. Not really interested in a single point setup unless that's all I can get to work.
  5. Been too busy working (and actually shooting the gun) to get this done yet, so does anyone have any suggestions on a front swivel that would work in this application? What is the thread size on that front screw - is there a swivel that would screw in as a direct replacement?
  6. Finally managed to sit down and take some pics of this - about time, since I've had it since late July! Basically...I love this gun. Not much more needs to be said. Tony did a great job on it. The stock fits great and the Limbsaver really helps on slug stages. The Tromix forend is a vast improvement over the stock one, fits my hands much better (and looks a LOT cooler). This is basically a S06 package, with a few changes that Tony and I discussed beforehand. Those were the Krebs sights (since I already had those on hand, and that's more the sight picture I'm used to) and the Polychoke
  7. Didn't even think about putting a swivel in place of the front handguard screw - that would work great. Thanks Tony!
  8. When I originally converted my S12, I notched the safety lever to give me a makeshift bolt hold-open (since my gun doesn't have a BHO lever). Now that I have a different style bolt handle on it, the notch isn't quite right to hold the bolt open with 100% security. I'd like to get a new safety lever and cut a new notch to more closely fit my new bolt handle. Does the S-12 take a standard AK safety lever? If not, where can I get a S12 specific one?
  9. OK guys....what options do I have regarding mounting a sling to my gun with Tony's folding stock and Galil style handguard installed? Obviously, the Galil style handguard doesn't have the sling mount that the stock forend has. I see a threaded hole on the side of the folding mechanism - is that meant for installation of a rear sling mount? What can I do up front - do they make a clamp-on swivel big enough to go on a S-12 barrel, or have y'all done it another way?
  10. The Winchester "value pack" ammo from Walmart in the 100 round boxes is the only thing so far that my S-12 won't shoot reliably. It loves Federal or Remington cheap stuff, especially Federal, but the Winchester just doesn't seem to have quite enough "oomph" to cycle the bolt reliably. About half the time I ended up with the 2nd round out of a mag fed halfway out of the mag and jammed against the top feedramp in the barrel.
  11. Thanks, y'all. Work has gotten in my way (ridiculous amounts of overtime) so I haven't had time to do any work on this project as of late. Krebs sights can be obtained here: http://www.krebscustom.com/PartsPages/Kala...l#SAIGA12SIGHTS I've gotten my Krebs sight set....there's no "logo" on the rear sight that I can see. No markings whatsoever. Got pics? Also, the small aperture inside the peep appears to be steel....that just punches out, if I so desire?
  12. I would like to remove the "vent rib" sight that my S-12 came with from the factory, in order to install a set of Krebs sights. What's the best way to do this? Does the rear of the rib drift out left to right, or right to left? And how is the front end attached? Also, on the Krebs sights...the front sight looks pretty straight forward, but does the rear sight fit in the dovetail groove left by the removal of the vent rib, or does it attach another way?
  13. Value pack Federal is pretty much all I shoot in mine, you shouldn't have problems.
  14. Are the clear AGP magazines available anywhere currently or did I miss the boat on these?
