  1. I would love to see how the extra length affects muzzle velocities on 5.45. I have always heard the conventional wisdom that the 5.45 was designed for a 16" barrel. So maybe theres not a whole lot of propelant in the cartridge to take advantage of the extra barrel. But my guess is that with 60gr and above there will be a significant diff. It would certanly be a big help for .223. If it made a big difference with 7N6 that would be surprsing/cool. I'd also love to see muzzle data on say 7N6 versus M855 5.56 on a 16" and 20" barrel.....
  2. So in this apocalyptic scenario where one can scrounge .223, there are apparently no .223 rifles laying about to be scrounged themselves? Frankly if all this S does indeed HTF, I doubt people will be any less interested in keeping and aquiring ammo than they are in the rifles to shoot it. Meaning that if you're planning on scrounging .223, you are pretty much planning on scrounging .223 rifles as well. I dont picture someone a) having a pile of .223 and no means to shoot it sitting around or b ) people seeing a .223 rifle laying there and then leaving the ammo behind for someone else to fi
  3. Then what DID end the depression? Our providing everything to rebuild the industrial base of the world, notably Europe and Japan. Who now enjoy some of the highest living standards of any areas on Earth. We basically got to sell everyone the stuff they broke. When we were done with that we had a sort of critical mass of economic activity here, not to mention a technological and educational edge that allowed us to make stuff nobody else really could on a scale they could not really match.
  4. I'll agree with a lot of that, (especially the courts) but Deflation is not good. I know of no economist of any political/philisophical/religious bent who would say that. Your money should not neccesarily go farther or less, your labor and its value should go farther because you are more productive. If goods are suddenly worth less money despite being more valuable in real terms, then suddenly you have a situation where ironically everyone is rich and nobody can get anything done. Hooray, 15 cent bread. But you just got laid off because you cost your employer the equivalent of 100K for a j
  5. Same here. I have fired hundreds of rounds of 7N6, waited 24 hours, sprayed some gun oil down he gas tube, barrel, and onto the piston, waited a few days, finally gotten to actually cleaning it, and had pretty much 0 corrosion. Its not really an issue even if you are fairly negligent like I am. IMHO, just carry some spray can gun oil with you and enjoy cheap effective reliable 7N6. 5.45 is illegal to use in hunting big game in most states anyway simply due to it caliber, and most states will allow small game hunting with FMJ rounds. 7N6 will do just fine for defense too.
