  2. Thanks for the posts guys! Jetmech-Good point. JT: I appreciate your getting into the business vs. hobby thing. I'm a freelance musician by trade, and I know full well the grey are between "reputable income" vs. hobby income. You should see my itemized deductions (all checked out with a CPA of course)! I believe I came up with a solution, even though I harbor a secret yen to learn more about gun smithing and get into more detailed and refined work. The truth is, it's still a hobby for me, and it will probably always be a hobby for me. So, I bought a Saiga .223 and invited my friend o
  3. So a buddy of mine wants me to do some FCG restorations for him. I have done all my Saigas with great success, and I guess he likes my work. All he wants is a basic trigger group move, nothing outside my ability. Is it legal for me (not a gunsmith, just an experienced Saiga addict) to do this in Texas? I tried to steer him to CSS and all the great tutorials there and elsewhere, but he's adamant that I should be the one to do it. Yes he's offered to pay me for it. If it is legal, my intentions (to CMA) are to make sure I have a complete parts list with receipts, a contract stating exactly
  4. I have a BM in Jazz performance, and an MM in Composition, almost done with the DMA (ABD), I play bass full time and have had a wonderful life thus far. I love showing off saiga pics and vids to the liberal weenies I have to deal with in academia. You'd be surprised how many of them come up to me on the down low wanting to learn how to shoot. You can check out my main gig at www.kriskimura.com
  5. What kind of "father" teaches his children that fear is better than responsibility? At least MY kids will be able to defend themselves. They won't be cowering in a corner waiting to be slaughtered.
  6. Got google, comrade? That seemed to work better for me. From what I gather, the forum search is often maligned.
  7. If you want a good scout scope try a leupold IER It worked great on my mosin with a scout mount. I got one I might be willing to part with if your interested Oh so tempted, but after replacing 2 car batteries, a clutch and a washing machine this week...Let's just say I value my marriage more right now. Thanks!
  8. How much steel case ammo have you used? Mine can be tough on brass, but after polishing the third lug ever so slightly and using more steel cased ammo, the problem is taking care of itself. Search "third lug" for more answers.
  9. It's a Scout Scopes mount. Didn't quite get the eye relief I needed for my Nikon Monarch, EER, so I put the old glass on it. Seems pretty solid and the balance seems better on the rifle.
  10. A family portrait! (L-R) .308, .223, 12. Fun for the whole family! (Conversion kit for the .223 is on the way, so no bitching!)
